Seeding has started! Pictured are a new addition this year (assuming I can keep them alive!), beautiful colobri poppies. Also pictured are sweet peas. I tried something new with excellent results. After soaking the seeds for 24 hours I placed them between damp paper towel and popped them into a freezer bag. They stayed in a warm room until they germinated. After just two days little root radicles are poking through. Now only those seeds that have germinated will go into the plug trays. No space is wasted on seeds that won't germinate. Horray! I'm not sure that this technique will work with all seeds, but I am also trying with larkspur.
Pretty fantastic that National Geographic is covering this topic
Some photos from the spring. Starting from nothing to a true abundance.
Summer photos from our little farm. All photos by Lindsay McGhee Designs
I love the idea of someone stumbling upon these beauties in the forest. Squamishites...or Squamishers (or whatever we are), did you spot them?
