As I sit here and think about what I'm going to say to pay tribute to Women today, I can't help but reflect on Michelle Obama's book "Becoming". I read it not too long ago, more than once. I was greatly inspired by this story because here was this lady, a First Lady, the first African American First Lady, who was a mother to two girls, a lawyer with a degree from Princeton, who has lead an incredible, honourable, authentic and meaningful life and I found her relatable. We ar...e continually becoming better versions of ourselves. I myself in the past 10 years have become a wife, a mother, and now I'm an entrepreneur. I'm now learning to be a new and better version of myself. I'm learning how to be a better leader. I'm learning how to balance running a new and growing business while still being the best single mother to my sweet little Olivia. I'm learning it's okay to ask for help. I'm learning that success does not come easy and without a good team standing beside you, rather than behind you. It is not only crucial to a growing and successful business to surround yourself with positivity but to your personal success as well. I continue to realize that as women the expectations that are put on us by society are unrealistic yet we still push ourselves to meet them and more than often, achieve to do so! I've built and will continue to build a team of strong women at Liv Interiors. I want to strive to create an environment where we motivate, challenge, and accept one another and work together. Raise each other up instead of compete and push each other down. To be valued and treated equally. My dreams are coming to fruition and I am pursuing them not just for myself but for my daughter. I want to set an example for her. I am conscious of the fact that my actions affect her. I want her to learn that she can have a rewarding career, a strong relationship and be dedicated to her family, however she believes that may look like and not what society believes it should look like for her. Her happiness should come first and she should not be ridiculed for it. Women have come a very long way, but there is so much more to do, speak up for, and fight for when it comes to our rights and equality, and I'm here for it. To my mother, my team of amazing women at Liv Interiors, Laura and Sabrina, to my friends and family who continue to cheer me on, pick me up, and push and encourage me to keep moving upwards and onwards, to break that glass ceiling, I thank you. Further more, I thought there would be no better day than today to introduce the women that stand by me while we create peoples dream homes and in turn make mine come true.

What a week! My sweet little Olivia is off to school and I miss her already! Working from home, balancing parenting and a work life definitely had it's challenges but I'm going to miss the frequent interruptions for hugs and kisses....
