This month's #LIVtrending theme is Conservatory Design. Conservatories originated in the early 16th century amongst the royal and upper classes. At that time, conservatories served a dual purpose - first, as a greenhouse for cultivating citrus fruits and herbaceous plant life before evolving into an entertaining area where one could connect with their natural surroundings. Today, conservatories continue to house many exotic plant species, while their architecture has evolved... as an inspiration for modern design, influencing commercial and residential spaces. Get inspired below. #ConservatoryDesign #DesignInspiration #Design #Architecture #Conservatory #DesignTrends

This is a difficult conversation, but necessary. As an active platform in the design community, we want to be clear that we will not remain silent in the fight against racism. Over the past week, weve been listening to & reflecting upon the conversations surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement and Justice for George Floyd. Like many, we dont know where to start, but know the importance to, at the very least, take the first step. The first step to understand, although we... know we can never fully understand, and to educate ourselves about injustices and ways we can help. While we have put a pause to our content for the next week, we wont be staying silent. We will continue to listen & amplify the voices of the unheard and share resources & ways to take action - now and beyond, online and offline. We know that change must start from within, so here is how we're getting started: 1. Education. We will continue to share relevant resources with our community, as well as our team. Our goal is not to push an agenda or tell you how or what to think, but to simply present facts as well as an inventory of relevant resources. 2. Representation. The design industry, especially in Vancouver, is made up of a collective of creative, passionate and diverse individuals whose unique experiences fuel the design industry. Our goal is to acknowledge and better represent the individuals who make up the beautiful design community, especially BIPOC, and their work. 3. A safe space. With current social distancing measures as well as the current, ongoing conversations, we feel its even more important to ensure that our team stays connected and create opportunities for them to have these difficult, but constructive conversations. So with this, comes a few questions that we are reflecting upon: 1. How do we become better allies for BIPOC? 2. How do we better engage in open conversations that stimulate change and improvement? Swipe to see how you can get started alongside us. As we continue to better educate ourselves, we will use our platform to amplify useful and relevant information during this time. #BlackLivesMatter
