Why do shortcuts fall short? Who doesn't love a short-cut? The faster route to reach your goal. For weight loss, unfortunately, there is no way around the fact that you have to make better nutrition choices and do more regular physical activity to if you want to improve your health and/or to lose fat.... This is why diets and restrictive meal plans don’t work well for people long term. They are hard to follow because, well, we are human and have a life. Even if you follow a diet or plan for a while, chances are it is not sustainable long term. Unless you plan to never get busy, always be prepared, pass up birthday party and dinner invites, skip vacations, and stick to a schedule all day every day - LIFE will get in the way of your "perfect" meal plan. Sustainability = Success Shortcuts = Shortcomings It is actually fairly easy to reach a goal. The challenge is it takes a lot longer than we want to get there. Lasting success takes consistency and TIME. You have to put in the good hard work day in and day out - even if it doesn’t always look pretty. If you are looking for a sustainable approach to eating better and living a healthy life, I invite you to join my Spring Refresh & Reset starting April 12. Book by April 8 and get two weeks of journal and accountability coaching following the four week program. If you'd like to learn more, send me a message and we can set up a time to chat so I can help you determine if the program is right for you. Having a child with a peanut allergy means store-bought baked goods are usually off limits. Thankfully, I love to bake but, for those who don’t, this recipe by @amyshealthybaking makes the process super easy. No fancy ingredients except these beautiful peanut free candy coated eggs by @presidentschoice. Prepped in five minutes and baked in less than 10. Can you wait for them to cool? That’s the hard part @amyshealthybaking - Healthy Practically Flourless Chocolate Chip Coo...kies. #healthyfamily #nourishyourself #foodasfuel #livefitlivewell #amyshealthybaking #quickandhealthy #allergyfriendly #healthyhappylife #healthymomma #healthcoach #wellnessjourney #fitlife #refresh #fitfood #dairyfree #iamwellandgood #peanutfree #mealprepideas #healthyfood #fitfood #quickandeasymeals #cleaneats #paleosnacks #glutenfree #mealprep #mealplanning #ipreview via @preview.app

These chocolate energy bites are a favourite for two reasons: they are packed full of goodness and they satisfy my tastebuds when I’m feeling like something sweet and rich. In my four week Spring Refresh & Reset program, I’ll be sharing ways to balance your nutrition while still enjoying foods and flavours you like. No restriction, no feelings of depriving yourself. Just nourishing with whole foods and finding balance that works long term - for real life. Small Batch Chocol...ate Protein Bites In a small sauce pot, add: 2 tablespoons maple syrup 2 tablespoons almond milk 2 tablespoons coconut oil 2 tablespoons cashew/nut butter 2 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder Whisk together over low heat. Once melted and blended, add: 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup oats 2 tablespoons hemp hearts 2 tablespoons unsweetened shredded coconut 1/8 teaspoon salt Optional: 1-2 tablespoon(s) unflavoured collagen Mix together. Form into 16 small balls or 8 larger. Place on parchment and put in fridge or freezer to set. Store in airtight container in fridge/freezer. #healthyfamily #nourishyourself #foodasfuel #livefitlivewell #quickandhealthy #allergyfriendly #healthyhappylife #healthymomma #healthcoach #wellnessjourney #fitlife #refresh #fitfood #dairyfree #iamwellandgood #peanutfree #mealprepideas #healthyfood #fitfood #quickandeasymeals #cleaneats #paleosnacks #glutenfree #mealprep #mealplanning #nutritioncoach #eatwholefoods #nutrientdense #nutritiontip

Happy Saturday! I was doing some research on nutrition and this diet advice caught my eye. See photo. This is part of the reason why I'm so passionate about helping others with their nutrition and fitness goals because this kind of advice is so appealing when you want fast results and you've tried everything else. Browser beware: ... When you see this kind of diet advice, have a good laugh and close the browser. Do not fall victim to promises of weight loss. Actually, you will lose weight because you'll be living off about 25% of your daily caloric needs. Did you know you burn more calories when you're hangry? (kidding!) The only thing you'll really lose during that two week 'crash diet' is your mind and 14 days worth of fueling your body with proper nutrients. Having a hard time figuring out what really works? Homemade almond butter is incredibly easy to make. It just takes a bit of patience. I have a peanut-allergic child so I originally started making my own almond butter because I couldn’t find a peanut-free version. I’ve since found a couple of brands - @barneybutter and Kirkland - but there’s something ultra satisfying about making it myself (with peanut-free almonds, of course @royal_nuts). I make the almond butter two ways: either with raw almonds or lightly roasted. My p...reference is the raw version because it has a slightly sweet taste. Besides almonds, all you need is a food processor and a spatula or knife. Using 3 cups of almonds will make about 1.5 cups of butter. 2 to 3 cups almonds (raw or lightly roasted for 8-10 min @ 300 F) Place almonds in a food professor and press on. Warning: it’ll be loud until the almonds break down. Now be patient. It’s going to take 8-12 minutes to turn into a creamy butter. Scrape down sides every 60 seconds. As soon as the butter forms, continue to let it run so you get a silky almond butter. That’s it! Try not to eat too many spoonfuls before storing in the fridge #healthyliving #diyrecipes #peanutfree #royalnuts #barneybutter #allergyfriendly #healthykidsfoods #kidswithpeanutallergy #livefitlivewell #nourishyourself #holisticnutrition See more

This smoothie was inspired by the last two clementines left on my counter. I’m loving the flavour even though it’s not the orange creamsicle vibe I was dreaming about.
