It's that time of year again! We will hosting our 3rd Annual Superintendent's Revenge golf tournament on Sunday, September 27th, 10am shotgun start. $75 for non-members, and $40 for members. Entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch and prizes. Please call the Proshop at 705-692-5502, to register your team now! We will accepting a maximum of 50 teams (100 golfers).
As we continue to allow carts on the course, it is imperative that they stay off of the fairways. The rules we put in place, which is cart path only and rough only where there are no cart paths, are to help protect the course from damage like this. Thanks for your cooperation!
Good morning, now that's a sunrise!
Good morning, now thats a sunrise!
Good morning. We had to make the call this morning to not allow carts on the course. The course is EXTREMELY wet, due to the amount of rain we have received over the last 12 hours. If you want to play today, you will unfortunately have to walk. Sorry for the inconvenience, and stay dry out there!
Todays cart rule, CART PATH ONLY/ROUGH ONLY, because the golf course is extremely wet. This is on #5 fairway. To those of you who actually follow the rules, THANK YOU! Everyone else who thinks, "Ive been playing here for 30 years, I know where to drive", shame on you. We put rules in place to stop damage like this from happening. Your golf course deserves more respect than this.
Happy Canada Day from the LGC Turf department! Have a great day, and stay safe!
Time for some golfer education. Can anyone guess how this happened?
Another scorcher at the LGC! Perfect weather for golf and some cold beverages!
Yesterdays project! We stripped and layed some new sod in a few weak areas on #8 green.
A big thank you to our staff that worked their butts off today and put in a 12 hour day to get this finished! The new putting green and the new blue tee for #10 are complete!
Just want to say thank you to Mother Nature for turning off winter and turning on summer! The golf course has definitely popped with this beautiful growing weather!

A quick sneak peak before we open on Saturday, May 16th!
Opening day is finally here! We are excited to be opening our doors this Saturday, May 16th to get the 2020 season underway. We will start taking tee times Friday May 15th at 8 am. Stay safe, and have fun out there!
From all of us here at the Lively Golf Club, we hope you had a great Easter weekend! But, to the person that hit a few approach shots on 15 over the weekend... Shame on you. These actions will not be tolerated or taken lightly. This is private property, and you are trespassing. EVERYONE is being asked to please stay off the LGC property. DO NOT come here to get exercise with your family, DO NOT come here to walk your dog, DO NOT come here to play golf! We will be continually monitoring the property and trespassers could possibly face fines. To those of you that live near the golf course, we ask for your help. If you see anyone out on our property, do not approach them, call Mark Taylor (General Manager) at 705-690-9228, or call Nathan Battigelli (Superintendent) at 705-561-0868. Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe.
We would like remind everyone that snowmobiles are not permitted on the grounds at the golf course, you are trespassing on private property. Over the weekend, some very rude individuals decided to do some donuts on #13 Green, #14 Tee and #15 Fairway. If anyone has any information about who this might be, please contact the Lively Golf Club.
Really cool to see the progress weve made over the last couple years. Im very proud of the work weve done and Im confident Lively GC is in good hands with Nathan Battigelli at the helm!
Lively Golf Club is in need of a new Golf Course Assistant Superintendent. We are also hiring full time, seasonal workers for the summer months (July to September). Apply today!
Quick winter update: Greens have between 12"-18" of snow cover with two distinct ice layers well above the surface. They are also free of frost! Shaping up to be a great winter!
Yesterdays rain was the kind of stuff that can give a Superintendent nightmares! Fortunately I wasnt able able to find any ice on the greens I visited, instead we have anywhere from a dusting to 4 inches of granular snow on greens. And where there is snow cover there is NO FROST in the ground! This is a very positive sign this early into the winter and Im back to feeling confident and looking forward to a better sleep tonight.
One of the most important things we do to prep for winter is a solid tine deep aeration. This will help moving damaging water away from the crown of the plant in order to minimize crown hydration and freeze injury!
Second day of our irrigation blowout today! It wouldnt be blowout without terrible weather :)
Thanks to all the members and green fee players for your patience during our aerating process! Its disruptive in the short term but will pay dividends next year!
Frost delay! Work continues on the new Putting Green...
Lively Golf Club is having a unique 4 Club Challenge tournament- open to all members and guests; sign up by calling the proshop 705-692-5502 x1
Views from the last couple of days.... Lots of progress made on the new putting green up by the Clubhouse!
