Song of the Day: Simon Zealotes (Performed by Larry Marshall (b-day boy!) in the 1973 rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar, starring Ted Neeley, Carl Anderson, Barry Dennen and Yvonne Elliman; directed by Norman Jewison) Larry Marshall: "We got out there and we're talking about 105 degrees all the time. With no shade. So, I just thought the faster I did it, maybe it'd be over (laughs)" Norman Jewison: "I just wanted you to be Simon the Zealot. I just wanted you to be a little c...razy, a little over the top. And uh, I have never seen an actor with such energy as you brought to that picture. And I do remember how hot it was. That was one of the hottest days that we had to work with a huge, huge dance number. And you were fantastic. Ya know, it's amazing. All the time we were shooting in Israel, nobody ever complained. I never had a cast member come to me with complaints about this or complaints about that. I really think you all deserve great applause for your courage and your devotion and your commitment to this film." See more

Song of the Day: Man & Dog (Studio recording by American songwriter Loudon Wainwright III; released on the album Haven't Got the Blues, Yet, 2014) "When a man has a dog in the city, man needs to walk in the park. Take a little stroll by the riverside, smoke a cigarette there in the dark. Living in the city, man living with a dog. And a man has to carry a plastic bag on his person at all times. When a dog dumps on the sidewalk, walking away is a crime. Living in the city, man ...walking with a dog. A man likes living in the city (city!), but a man has to find some work. Walking with a dog is kind of a job, make you feel like a fool and a jerk. Living in the city, working like a dog. Work out! Dog likes living in the city. In the city, there's a lot of other mutts. Checking in front, checking in back, no ifs, no ands, just butts. Living in the city, dog checking on a dog. It's a pretty good way to meet a woman. If a woman is walking a dog, you just say 'What's her name? How old is she?' It's easy, like rolling off a log. Checking out a woman, man acting like a dog. But when a man has a fight with a woman, a man needs to go for a walk. Walking with a dog is easy, he listens, he don't talk. Talking to a dog, talk to me! (Woof woof!) Walking with a dog in the winter, in the wind, in the rain, in the snow, is a drag. It's hard as hell to keep a cigarette lit,and get the shit in the plastic bag! Living in the city, man walking with a dog. When a man has a dog in the city (city!) (city!!!), a man needs to walk in the park. Take a little stroll by the riverside, smoke a cigarette there in the dark. Living in the city, man living with a dog. Woof, woof... woof, woof, woof!" See more
