Delia and Ernest, an older couple, are fully comfortable in their nighttime routine. Malcolm and Kate, a fresh young couple, play clever pranks on each other. Jan and Nick settle for co-existing. Susannah and Trevor split up and the chaos they create threatens all of the other relationships.

#FashionFriday The era of fashion in the 1930s setting of Night and Day consists of contrasting daywear and eveningwear styles that were inspired by cinema and Hollywood. Women’s evening gowns were made of beautiful satins and silks while men wore tuxedos with draped cut shoulders, tapered sleeves, and peaked lapels. Day dresses came in a variety of patterns: floral, plaid, dots, and more abstract prints. They had clearly defined waists and fell between the mid-calf and just above the ankle. Men’s suits, which were often tweed, were popular with crisp lines and sculptural, defined shoulders. The exaggerated shoulder on both suits and dresses was a hallmark of 1930s fashion and was created through padding, layers of fabric, or other embellishments.
