The totals are in...our 'Shift for Halle' raised $2237! Combined with the homemade Christmas decorations by 9 year old Jane that were purchased by many of our patients, $5842 was raised for Halle's family. Thank you so much for coming together to show your support for the Krawczyk family. The family will be spending Christmas at home, then travelling to Pittsburgh, quarantining for 2 weeks and then hopefully getting the surgery and treatment Halle needs by mid January. We ask that you all keep Halle, Hunter, Matt and Carolyn in your thoughts!

From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank everyone who participated in our Saturday shift for Halle! It was so heartwarming to see our staff and patients coming together to support this 12 year old cancer warrior and her family! We still have a few donations coming in so total raised TBD!

SATURDAY FOR HALLE! Live Well Physiotherapy is open this Saturday from 8am - 1pm to help raise money for Halle, a 12 year old Salmon Arm girl who needs specialized surgery and proton beam radiation therapy in Pittsburgh to remove a cancerous tumour. Our physiotherapists, kinesiologist and admin staff will be donating their time this Saturday, December 12. Appointments will be regular length and regular prices (we can still direct bill your extended health plans) however, all... funds raised will be donated to Halle's family to help with the costs associated with this specialized treatment. We are currently limiting this extra fundraising shift to existing Live Well clientele (no new assessments please). Covid-19 safety precautions apply! Call our office to book your appointment for Saturday and help raise funds for this worthy cause. 250-833-0050

Thank you Live Well Community! Together, we have raised over $400 for the Salmon Arm food bank! When we re-opened for in-person care, we decided that all money raised in the sale of cloth masks should go back into helping our community. A HUGE thank you to Joyce T, Debbie B, and Patricia Z who skillfully made and generously donated cloth masks to keep our staff and patients safe! It's people like you who make our community so great!

The staff at Live Well Physiotherapy is committed to making the safety of our patients and staff our number one priority. We have been following the guidelines and recommendations of the federal and provincial governments very closely. Today, the federal government announced that they are officially recommending non-medical mask use if a person is unable to maintain a physical distance of 2m from others for an extended period of time. Given the nature of physiotherapy, we are... asking patients to please bring their own mask to wear during their appointment. If you are unable to bring a mask, you will have the following three options available at the clinic: 1) You may purchase a disposable mask for $1 (limited supply). 2) You may buy a cloth mask for a minimum $5 donation, which will be given to a local charity. Please remember to bring this mask to every appointment. Cloth masks should be laundered daily. Huge thanks going out to one of our talented patients who made and generously donated our cloth mask supply! 3) You may use a reusable cloth mask that will be available at the clinic. Cloth masks will be placed in a used bin after your appointment and laundered and dried at the highest temperature. As we only have a very limited supply of disposable and cloth masks, we ask that you make every effort to bring your own mask until we can replenish our supply. Thank you for your understanding and for keeping our staff, yourself, and other patients safe! Your Live Well Team https://www.ctvnews.ca//it-s-now-recommended-that-canadian

We checked in with Sheron, our awesome kinesiologist to see what her advice is to keep busy during the COVID isolation...here's what she had to say: Here are some of the things we are doing in our house to manage: -Get out for a walk every day; keeping appropriate distances of course! But the fresh air and movement are so therapeutic! -We are lucky to have a home gym so my family and I are able to keep working out - yay! ... -My daughter and I love to do yoga together -We all still come together for meals. It’s easy for everyone to get into their corners and get engrossed in technology or books, but we continue to make meals our family time for conversation and connection -We watch a funny tv show every night before bed! Sometimes its a movie but we always finish our day with at least a half hour of one of our favorite comedy shows. Right now we are in Season 3 of Modern Family hilarious! -Connect with extended family and friends by video. We started a Book Club with our best friends that live in Victoria. Tonight we will have our first club meeting on Zoom looking forward to it now just have to plan what to wear! LOL :) See more

Kim's tip to keep you and your kids healthy and sane during isolation is to find creative ways to move in your own backyard. The kids created an obstacle course and even the adults had fun going through it...and no...there's no video of the adults going through it...maybe another time! We would love to see how everyone else is getting creative with exercise! Post in the comments below! Reminder: our therapists are still providing physio and kinesiology appointments by video...it's easy...just like facetime or WhatsApp! Just call 250-833-0050!

Are you working from home now during the pandemic? How is your home office set up working out? Here are Jill's tips for working from home (besides shifting your computer camera angle so people on your video chat don't see the dirty dishes): -set up a standing station if possible... -try lower back support with a pillow/cushion -avoid forward head posture and rounded spine for long periods of time -TAKE FREQUENT REST BREAKS (every 30 minutes) Stay tuned for some stretches to add to your rest breaks!

Here is one patient's experience with our new service delivery method: TELEHEALTH!! 'I had my first video physiotherapy treatment from David last Thursday. Luckily he already knows me, so it wasn't too hard to get going on the treatment. I explained what had happened (a fall on ice onto my hip area) and was able to show him using the video. He watched me walk and do a few movements and then was able to demonstrate some exercises that would help me improve. I was also given th...e exercises via physioapp which is a great help in remembering how to do the exercises. Several days later I am improving rapidly. Thanks so much for the opportunity to have my session remotely and for returning my phone message and fb message about my accident, so quickly. I am so grateful for your wonderful office staff and physiotherapists. A big thank you to David who is my hero!' If you need any help with symptom management, self-management strategies, exercise prescription/modification or help determining whether you need to go to the doctor or hospital, our physiotherapists are here for you! Call 250-833-0050...we are answering our phones!! #shopshuswap
