Living Faith at Home Spiritual Guidance and Podcast 23.04.2021

We spent a lot of time during Lent thinking about and talking about Lament. Our Laments are many and various. Some deep seated and agonizing. Others seemingly mundane and petty. Every single one is welcomed in heart of the Divine Family. On Good Friday, we can hear the lamenting cry of God that felt relationship was so important that they would live alongside us, experiencing life, death and resurrection, so that we could know how much we are loved. I hope you’ll carry the practice of the Prayer of Lament into your year. For now, we lament and enter the silence of Holy Saturday. Loved. Extravagantly, entirely loved.

Jennifer writes: I'll be reading tonight as part of the Saskatchewan Writers Guild's launch of the 12th volume of "spring." If you'd like to spend this evening (Wednesday, March 24 starting at 7 p.m.) listening to some Saskatchewan writing, you can register at https://skwriter.com/events-and.../spring-volume-12-launch The story I wrote started as a poem based in a few real life details of my real life great-grandma Delilah Childerhose's experiences of moving to the prairies w...ith her family including a new-born baby girl and three other daughters. In that first year she ended up with typhoid fever and had to send the baby, my great-aunt Lenna, to live with one of the neighbour women. My grandma was born 8 years later. Troubles, trials, and hard times are the stuff of my history, the context that my ancestors lived through with faith and community. Here we are, at this moment of uncertainty, in a long line of survivors. I'm reaching for hope, for wisdom, for rest.
