Living Embrace 30.04.2021

Answering this question will help you build an awareness of the current state of your self-worth, which is the first step in enhancing, changing, and transforming it I used to believe I was only worthy if I was working hard, achieving external success, and being productive. I was only enough when I morphed myself to please and meet the expectations of others. I was only enough if I had something tangible to show for myself, to prove to others (and on a deeper level, to p...rove to myself) that I was doing okay and living a good life. My worth was based completely on things outside of myself. It was built on my doing instead of my being. These used to be the beliefs I had and the stories I told myself. They ran in the background of my subconscious, subtly and sinisterly ruling my life in a way I couldn’t even notice. It wasn’t until I gave myself the space and time to reflect on my self-worth that I started to build my awareness of it. When I did that, these beliefs and stories were thrust into the light so I could see them, confront them, question them, and finally, transform them into beliefs and stories that actually served me. Becoming aware is the first step to making a change, and that change can completely transform your life and self-worth. In this week’s Awaken & Empower episode, I share this journey of mine, and everything that has happened since I launched my coaching practice last summer. I went through some really dark and difficult times, all of which led me towards becoming more aware of my self-worth so I could transform it into what it is today. Recording this episode was the most vulnerable I’ve ever felt on the podcast. It was scary and uncomfortable at times to share these parts of my journey, especially a current part that I used to carry a lot of shame about. In the spirit of the show, I shared my story with honesty and truth, and even though the fear was there, the sense of empowerment was much stronger. I hope you enjoy this episode. 5 ways to get through tough mental health days Last week, my mental health was the worst it’s been in awhile I felt anxious and depressed and it overwhelmed my inner world and my daily life. I felt like my light went out, and I couldn’t find the match to reignite it. ... It was a rough few days, but I’m feeling more like myself this week. I truly think what helped me get through this anxious/depressive episode so effectively was pinning down 5 coping methods that felt meaningful and actionable to me. In case you’re going through a tough time, or you’d like something to refer back to the next time you’re struggling with your mental health, I thought I’d share the top 5 ways that help me get through tough mental health days 1 Allow yourself to feel the way you feel. You are entitled to your own emotions, even if you can’t understand why you’re feeling that way. Don’t deny or bypass your emotions. You are allowed to feel the way you do, without explanation or justification. 2 Get it out. Release your emotions and thoughts in some way so they don’t stay stagnant in your mind and body. Allow it all to move through you and run its course. 3 Prioritize your self-care. Listen to your mind, body, and soul, and give yourself what you need in any given moment. Fulfill your needs and protect your boundaries. Do things to shift your energy. 4 Give yourself grace. Piling guilt and/or shame on top of your mental health struggles will only make everything feel worse. Be conscious of how you speak to yourself, take some things off your plate wherever you can, and give yourself time to heal. 5 Trust that it will pass. It always does. No matter how long it takes, it will eventually pass. If what you’re going through does feel more permanent, and simply trusting it’ll pass just isn’t enough, seek help from your support system or in a more professional sense. Do you ever feel like you’re living life on autopilot? Like you’re just going through the motions, day by day? Like life is happening to you, and you’re mindlessly following it? If you have, you’re not alone. I’ve definitely felt that way, too. It’s normal to experience phases of life where the days blur into each other, and everything feels mundane, repetitive, and just not exciting. To me, this sort of feels like I’m living life asleep, and it takes all the intention, agenc...y, and joy out of life. If you can relate, or you’re going through a phase like this right now, and you want to start living fully awake, I’ve got a suggestion for you: connect with your spirituality. I started exploring my spiritual side and the world of spirituality about a year ago, and I’ve received so many benefits and transformations from this journey. One of the most significant is the discovery of how to live my life fully awake. Living fully awake is being an active participant in your own life. It’s looking at life and the world around you with a keen eye and an open heart. It’s discovering what you believe in and finding the courage to stand for it. It’s connecting with yourself and the collective around you. You always have the power to wake yourself up whenever you feel like you need to, and spirituality is one of the ways to do it. As a human existing in this life, you have the immense privilege and opportunity to explore and enhance your sense of self You have this opportunity every day, every moment. Living life gives you the privilege of connecting with yourself, getting to know yourself, taking care of yourself, loving yourself. It’s all so possible, and everything you need is already within you.... When you explore and enhance your sense of self, you give your energy to your inner world, and this will then create shifts in your outer world. It’s a magical, mystical, energetic dance and you always have the power to take the lead. If you want to strengthen your relationship with yourself, create lasting change in your life, and put yourself on the path of bringing your dreams and desires to life, then there’s one crucial thing you gotta do: commit to your inner work Your inner work encompasses all of the exploration, discovery, and nurturing you put towards your mind, consciousness, and soul. It’s about unlocking your inner wisdom and uncovering the intricacies of who you are. It’s a whirlwind journe...y and a pathway home to the truest essence of your being. Doing this inner work is guaranteed to transform and enhance your outer life. When you tend to your inner world, everything in your outer world is impacted, in small and big ways. Committing to my inner work has led to so many beautifully transformative experiences that have impacted my sense of self and quality of life. Without my inner work, I would have never started Living Embrace, or my coaching practice, or, most recently, my podcast. I wouldn’t know how to live a life that feels the most meaningful, fulfilling, and purposeful to me. And I would never have awakened my authentic self or started living an empowered life. This all happened in my outer world because of the attention I put towards my inner world. Inner work is something I’m so passionate about helping others with, so I created a whole podcast episode about it!
