I had the good fortune in 2020 to be able to say, that even though I, like all other artists had every show for the year cancelled, I had the best spring and summer ever in terms of sales. I was busy from May to September creating and selling many birdbaths, fulfilling commissions for custom orders, and selling sculptures that I had on hand. I’m so grateful for that! Once September came though, that pretty much fell away and at that same time I had an opportunity to return ...to my former profession as a carpenter and be part of a substantial home renovation that kept me employed till Christmas. During my time at that reno one of two stone fireplaces was being dismantled to be converted to gas with a new stone façade, and every stone from that fireplace was tossed in the dumpster except for this one that I salvaged. All the stone for the old fireplace came from a local quarry that mined feldspar in the last century from a substantial pegmatite dyke. The Perth Feldspar Quarry operated for just four years and ceased operations in 1926. This bowl titled Legacy, is all that remains of that old fireplace and stands as a testimony not only to that particular quarry but also to the rich history of quarrying in Eastern Ontario. #feldspar #onemansjunkisanothermanstreasure #localstone #pegmatite #microcline #localartist #madeinperth See more

On this Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe I recall that I had no intention of carving a depiction of Our Lady but was moved to do this on the afternoon of March 13, 2013...after Jorge Mario Bergoglio walked out on the balcony of the Sistene Chapel as Pope Francis. Unlike other depictions of Our Lady of Guadalupe mine shows her looking upward. I imagined this Patroness of the Americas giving thanks to God for allowing a South American to be elected to the Chair of St. Peter. Our Lady of Guadalupe... pray for us. #ourladyofguadalupe #popefrancis #givethanks #stonesculpture #localartist

Time to winterize your water feature? Maybe...but I’m not giving in yet. With warmer weather around the corner we’re keeping all five of ours going as long as we can. Haven’t seen the birds bathing of late but they’re still taking a drink from time to time. #avoidingwinter #forthebirds #waterfeature #gardenart #stonefountain

Some clients sent me this photo of the sink I carved for them this past summer. This sink was part of a bathroom reno at their cottage. Swipe through to see some of the process. The last photo is the custom sink I did for their home about 10 years ago. #bathroomreno #customsink #madeforyou #stonesink #localartist
