It has been quiet on this page and I think I am ready to share why. I do not know exactly when I will be ready to try resuming client sessions or even volunteer work, and I want to be open and honest as everyone's support over the years has meant a lot and our clients are wonderful. The following may upset some due to the openness of what I am about to share, so I am giving it a trigger warning on many levels. Yesterday marked one month since I lost my little sister. She too...k her own life on Christmas Eve and the world shattered when I heard the words on the phone. My sweet little sister suffered daily for countless years. Her mental illnesses ended up taking over and I truly believe she felt this was the only way to finally be at peace. There were many roots to her struggles but one of the major ones was suffering from sexual abuse when she was younger. I could share so much about this in further detail but the fact is she is gone. I never knew a pain this deep was possible. I tried for so long to help her and feel so lost without her. Suicide is something I quickly learned has effected so many people. People reached out and opened up about their own relationships with it. I have struggled myself with my own mental illness and it scares me how easy and convincing it can be to say everything is fine. It also saddens me how a death by suicide is treated so differently. I have always loved how photography can speak words through an image. Emotions can be captured in a single frame. I know that going forward I want to do even more to help bring the struggles of mental illness forward. I want to help people open up about it and know they are not alone. I think I will want to offer the chance for people to share their struggles and offer the opportunity to have it captured through photos somehow. Of course this may be too emotional at times and that is why I know I won't charge for any of this. I do believe that everyone has to be more open and accepting of the struggles involved with mental illness and we can only get there by sharing and supporting. If you think you might be interested in opening up and sharing let me know. I think we could help others by sharing because I know that Noel would never ever want anyone to feel what she felt daily.
Captured this interesting interaction while watching the Sheep.
Might have had a little too much fun with this. Charlie’s RBF came in handy.
