Livin' La Vida Plant Based 25.04.2021

Beyond genetics, most families share traditions and recipes that go back generations, and some have the ability to transport us back to the very moment we had it for the first time. This sweet bread was my aunt's recipe and I can still remember the first time I ate it. I have been making it for years at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. And although I’ve had to tweak the recipe to make it vegan, it’s just as delicious as I remember it! What are some of your favourite family... recipes? Mirella I hope you found this helpful. Save. Is snacking sabotaging your goals? If you are a habitual snacker, you may need to look at your diet as a whole. This is not to say that there is something wrong with snacking, but if you are consuming nutrient-dense meals, the need to snack should be seldom vs routine. Are you listening to your body's cues and eating when you are truly hungry and not thirsty, stressed, upset or depressed? This is why eating intuitively for me is critical. I have learned to listen to my body a...nd differentiate hunger from my emotional state. To start, make sure you haven't set yourself up for failure by having the processed junk in the house to begin with. I like to keep lots of fruit, fresh and frozen berries, energy balls, hummus, precut veggies, dates, cocoa nibs, and good quality dairy-free dark chocolate in the fridge/freezer for when I need to bridge the gap to my next meal. Next time you're reaching for that snack, check-in with how you're feeling and make sure you're not just thirsty. True hunger will be satisfied with ANY food, so if you're zeroing in on a row of cookies, a chocolate bar or a bag of chips, there may be more going on. Listen to your body. It's always speaking to you. When you get the urge to snack, try journalling your thoughts or taking a 10 minute walk to see if there's something deeper to it. If there is one thing I've learned on my journey to wellness, it's to listen to my body. I wish the same for you Mirella I hope you found this helpful. Save. Tag a friend.
