There is artistry in dog training, but at it's core it is rooted in science. The more knowledge we have, the less we need belief.

Dogs need time to be dogs! Not at the dog park, not with the chuckit ball, not on a 6 foot leash! At least once a week!... And it's good for our bearts and brains and souls too

Happy campers at our Loose Leash Walking Masterclass! Paisley, Josie, Reggie and Nova were superstars in the rain today! There are so many ways to teach loose leash walking, and each puppy brings their own histories, drives and personalities to the table! We have so many different ways to customize our approach to each team while still using science based, positive methods!

It's the solstice, and it's horrible and rainy. The longest night of the year means it's all uphill from here! We're off for our holiday! I won't be answering emails or work related DMs until January 3rd, but I might be around to post a cute story here or there. Enjoy your break, and stay safe

#whatsinmybag (This is not an endorsement of any brand of food) Here's what I've got with me on any given walk. It varies, bht we usually have these bases covered!... Something tasty but low value, like the apple chips. Great for sitting at crosswalks or check ins. Air dryed food, a good medium value. Dehydrated meat, high value. This is beef lung. And A JACKPOT! Something that won't expire is best unless you've planned to train your recall today. Kitty food is a great jackpot! Here's the real pro tip though: use treats that FEEL different to you! You want to not have to look to make sure you got the right thing. Let me know in the comments what your favourite treats are!!

Lets talk rest days! We all need time to chill out and recouver from the mental and physical stress in our lives. Even the highest energy dogs with the biggest exercise needs can benefit from days off (like Biscuit here). They need adequate rest to build muscle and recouver from any mental stress in their life.... You have permission to have a lazy day at home this week!

Not All Dogs are Daycare Dogs!! (and that's okay) "As the daycare manager and as his full time guardian, I saw signs that Biscuit’s arousal levels were too high. He had a hard time taking a break from play. Even when he was alone, he paced, or tried to push through barriers to access me or the other dogs. He did not sleep."

A torrential downpour wasn't going to stop Mosi and his mum from their clicker training lesson! Mosi is such a sweet puppy, but he's really strong. His owners are great and when they saw a few problems emerging (pulling on leash, trying to counter surf) they reached out for help! Because of that they have a huge leg up on solving these issues! Check the comments for the video!
