For #waybackwednesday we're sharing food and drink tins, cans, canisters and boxes from our Artifact Collection. Do any of these look familiar, or bring back any memories? Do you still have any of these in your household or have a collection? Tell us about them! #waybackwednesdayLCSC
A fur stole is a large scarf, wrap, or capelet made of fur and lining, designed to be worn over your shoulders, popular in the 1910s-1920s. It is added to the outfit for fashion and also for warmth in the winter. It can be wrapped around the neck and clipped, or draped over the shoulders. We're sharing a silver fox fur stole from our Artifact Collection, from 1910, for #waybackwednesday #waybackwednesdayLCSC
For #waybackwednesday we are sharing our snowplane. It was made by Ken Wesson for his own recreation purposes, and he would bring it to the museum for winter events, and used it to drive people to the hospital in winter emergencies. The snowplane had been on loan to us since the 1970s, and we are happy to report that it was formally donated to the Artifact Collection earlier this year. Big thanks to the Wesson family for entrusting us with their family heirloom! #waybackwednesdayLCSC
To honour the fallen servicemen and women and pay respect for those who have dedicated their lives to serving in the armed forces, both WWI and WWII, we're sharing from our Artifact Collection. We remember them. #LestWeForget #CanadaRemembers

The Emerson Iron Lung is a variation of the original invention which is a negative pressure ventilator that varies the air pressure in the enclosed space to stimulate breathing when muscle control is lost as a result of diseases such as polio or botulism. The Emerson Iron Lung has added features such as a bed that slides in and out as needed and portal windows for attendants who made adjustments to limbs and sheets. We’re sharing this Emerson child-sized iron lung from our ...Artifact Collection. Used during the 1950s to aid polio victims in breathing, at a time when polio was reaching near epidemic proportions. This represented a major victory in the fight against the disease. It was originally donated by the Nunebor Ladies Club to Lloydminster Hospital, and later donated to LCSC by the Lloydminster Hospital. #waybackwednesday #waybackwednesdayLCSC #museum #IronLung See more

Most Barr Colonists were new to farming and had little to no agricultural background; and suddenly had grains and crops, as well as cattle, horses, pigs, sheep and poultry. This resource provided instructions for novice farmers on how to properly run a farm. The manual contains directions for penmanship, account keeping, how to complete business forms, how to deal with the laws concerning farming, insects that may be useful or troublesome, and how to take care of horses, cows, and other farm animals. #waybackwednesday #waybackwednesdayLCSC
