We want to take a moment to recognize a member of our community, Edmond Chan, who recently reached a very special milestone, his 100th blood donation to Canadian Blood Services! Edmond has been participating in Light the Night for the past seventeen years in honour of his wife Christina, who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2003. Sadly, Christina passed away in September 2020. Edmond shares that donating blood is one of the easiest ways I feel I can help give b...ack a little and honour the memories of my beloved wife, Christina Law. Thank you, Edmond, for your continuous commitment to giving back to our community and reaching this incredible milestone. It is a beautiful way to honour Christina’s memory. Cancer diagnoses in 2020 are down by approximately 40%. Not because cancer has gone away, but because of a disruption in care caused by the pandemic. The medical community predicts the disruption of cancer care due to COVID-19 will have lasting impacts that have the potential to further disrupt future care and treatment. If you’ve paused treatments or routine checks, it’s time to resume. Cancer doesn’t wait, neither should you. Don’t wait. Contact your healthcare team. Get checked. #NewNormalSameCancer
Ada Lin is a supporter who has been participating in Light the Night with her children for five years. Ada watched the broadcast on October 24th with her son and a virtual celebration with friends. After the broadcast, they chose to light the night! Thank you so much for your continued support! Do you have photos of your friends and family enjoying the broadcast?
