Dear ice rink users - our staff works very hard to give you access to a beautiful rink.. please respect this ! Driving your car on the ice- creating frozen mud icicles all over is not the way to go !! please adhere to our rules...clean up after yourself in warm up, take care of your own fires and keep the rink in good order for all to use . Over the past week moose, caribou, deer and wolf have been killed by vehicle collisions in the Southern Lakes area. For your own safety and the sake of the wildlife, watch for them on the highways, particularly in the dark. Drive to the conditions, use winter tires, and make sure your headlights are clean and functional.

Watch for wildlife when driving in the Southern Lakes: Caribou and other wildlife often cross the Alaska Highway and Carcross and Tagish roads. Drive to the c...onditions, use winter tires and make sure your headlights are clean and functional. Be alert when you see signs of wildlife like scat and tracks on the right-of-way or in the ditches. If you’re in a wildlife collision or see wildlife that has been hit, call the TIPP line at 1-800-661-0525. Carcross Tagish Renewable Resources Council

Check out what one of our wonderful members and long-time, active LMCA volunteer, Christel Percival, has been working on with the "Pioneer Women of the Yukon": The "2021 TRAILBLAZERS OF THE YUKON" calendar which recognizes the many contributions made by Yukon pioneer women. Congratulations Christel! In a normal year, you would find Christel presenting the calendars at our annual Mount Lorne craft fair. This year they are being sold at Mac's Fireweed.

With the caribou arriving in the area, the wolves have now also arrived. Lots of fresh tracks in the Old Bridge Rd area last night sniffing around our dog trails, my chicken yard and even around my beehives. One even walked around a tree to avoid my game camera and then back on the trail once out of range. Watch your dogs!!

We always hope they will not turn into a problem and Yukon Conservation Officer Services has given us many ideas on how to reduce the cause of that happening. But in Japan they have come up with a very unique solution. https://www.nytimes.com///japanese-monster-wolf-robot.html
