Today on Transgender Day of Visibility, we celebrate our transgender and nonbinary colleagues and customers, like Anastasia, who works at a Maxi location in St-Hubert, Quebec. With the guidance of our Proud to Be Me committee of LGBTQ2SI+ colleagues, we continue to find ways to be more inclusive and better allies for each other and for our customers. We’re customers too and local is important to us. That’s why finding that next great product is even sweeter when you’re supporting a business like Jakeman's Pure Maple Syrup in Beachville, ON, who heavily relied on the tourism industry pre-pandemic and needed to find a home for their pancake mix and maple syrup. Today, we’re proud to carry their products in over 280 of our stores across Ontario. ... Learn more about our relationship with Jakeman’s here: https://www.loblaw.ca/en/tony-and-jennifers-sweet-deal

Meet Neil Hetherington, CEO of the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto. Food Banks across the country have been continuing to work hard to provide resources to people in our communities and they need your help. From now until April 4, please consider making a donation at your local Loblaw grocery store, which will have an immediate impact in your local community. Not sure what to donate? Some of the most needed items include canned meats and fish, peanut butter, dried or canne...d beans, dried pasta, sauces, rice, canned fruits and vegetables, personal care items, as well as monetary donations which are used by food banks to purchase fresh items like produce, milk and bread. We greatly appreciate your support in helping Canadians to #LiveLifeWell #LoblawSpringFoodDrive

Sophia de Guzman, Miss Alberta 2020 and a cashier at Joly's Your Independent Grocer in Fort McMurray AB, first started competing in pageants as a way to increase her confidence and ended up developing a passion for giving back to her community. Volunteering for a number of local organizations including the food bank and the Boys and Girls Club, most recently Sophia is keeping herself busy making and distributing more than 1,800 fabric masks, free of charge to frontline workers, seniors and the homeless in Fort McMurray and across Canada. Displays of racism toward our colleagues and community at large, like the disturbingly aggressive one that recently occurred at our T&T store in Mississauga, are never acceptable and will not be tolerated. While we do not want to give this person’s hateful rant in response to being asked to wear a face mask more attention, we share it to show how proud we are of our colleagues, who worked to calmly deescalate the situation, even while being verbally and racially attacke...d. Not only is this person not welcome in our T&T stores anymore, he is not welcome in any of our 2,400 grocery stores or Shoppers Drug Mart locations either. We are committed to calling out racism and actively fighting against it when we see it. WWF-Canada is excited to partner with Loblaw Companies Limited to source native plants for 35 of their Garden Centres across southern Ontario! #inthezonegardens... Find your native plants here: https://bit.ly/2uVnso5 We know buying plants for your garden will work a bit different this year, but Loblaw Garden Centres are still open and employing physical distancing measures. Grocery stores are urging customers to come in once a week or less. If you’re heading to one of the select Loblaw Garden Centres in mid-May, consider planning ahead and adding native plants to your weekly shopping trip.
