Did you make it out this weekend to our @brainsportyqr pop up? We love so many things about our space but one thing we especially love hearing is how our space makes you feel! This weekend we had so many great conversations and it has given us all the feels!! ... Instead of hosting a big Christmas market this year we are going to rearrange our store a bit and hold 2-3 pop ups each weekend in November and December leading up to Christmas. This past weekend we celebrated Dane’s 7th birthday!! Hard to believe our baby is 7! (Guess what his reaction is when we call him our baby ) We just wanted to give you a couple updates with @localandfresh hours! From now until Christmas we are open until 8:00pm on Thursdays and 4:00 on Saturdays!... Also this week @brainsportyqr will be popping up on the front of our market on Friday from noon until 6:00 and on Saturday from 9:00-4:00!! @beauti.photography

Sergio was born and raised in Mexico city where products are locally sourced and always fresh Worked over 10 years doing private catering Worked as an assistant Food and Beverage director for three 5 star resorts in Cancun Mexico Owned with his mother a very successful authentic Mexican restaurant in downtown Toronto called Jalapeno Moved to Regina in 2009 where he worked for Hotel Saskatchewan as a director of food and beverages for 5 years and the Ramada for 2 years Opened Roots Kitchen and Bar in Harbour Landing as the Culinary Director For the last almost 2 years he was the Culinary Director for Atlas Hotel !! We could not be more excited as a family business to have the opportunity to work along side this family! We have so many things to share but right now we couldnt call it a day without sharing our news!! We will be doing a soft launch this Saturday!! Hope you can come for Brunch or Dinner !! Local Food Hall Kitchen update!!! This week we are busy working on the Local Food Hall Kitchen transition and to allow for this we will be closing the kitchen Monday - Friday this week!! We are so excited because ....... This Wednesday we will introduce to you our Culinary Partner that will be managing the kitchen and transition!! This Saturday we will be doing a soft opening of our new concept from 10:00-8:00!! Next weekend....the 25th, 26th and 27 we have a fun weekend planned as well as we will be doing a reveal of the official Kitchen brand!!! Last summer we opened our kitchen in the Local Food Hall!! Over the past year we have had the privilege of working with so many great chefs in Regina. As our background is ranching/farming and accounting we had little to no experience in designing or running a kitchen...but we loved the idea of a commercial kitchen where chefs could experiment and provide the market an opportunity to showcase local products! Several from our local culinary community contributed by helping us... with designing a functional and beautiful kitchen that would provide opportunity to local chefs. Over this last year we have had the privilege of tasting dishes from so many great local chefs, hosted cooking contests, cooking classes and private catering events! Our vision hasn't changed and the experience will continue but we are excited to be soon introducing a local culinary partner that will be running the market kitchen!! We will be extending the hours of the kitchen serving up a fresh daily menu with ingredients from @localandfresh while continuing to have a guest chef take over day once a week where you can still come and enjoy the meals and support the chefs that you have come to love this past year!! It is hard to believe it was 2015 when we first set our eyes on this amazing building It was raw, but there was something about that seemed right. Our dream was always to build an experience around food...and what better building to do that in than one that was built almost 100 years ago to produce food!! ... At the center of Local Market sits @localandfresh ...the food market. This speaks to a vision that started with food...real food made or grown by people in our community. Well we finally got updated family pictures All of our previous family pictures have been on our farm and in our gardens. Since we are now in a new chapter in our life we thought it would be neat to take some in the back alley in our new urban setting. Just when we thought life couldnt get any crazier a few months ago it did...but on this afternoon we put our phones away, our heads stopped spinning while we shared in laughs and good chats with our boys and @beaut....photography !! Though this new chapter in our life is sooo different than our last chapter on the farm, we are excited for whatever is next! This amazing building is so special to us! We miss these days....and your smiling faces . We started Local and Fresh because we just love serving this community. As our business grew over the last year into a vibrant market we were just hitting our stride. It felt like 2020 was going to be our year!! Local Market was becoming a destination...the place we always dreamt about creating. A space where the community would feel at home, compelled to just hang out and browse, have a coffee, donut, lunch, brunch or din...ner! That all changed over the past few months. We've been able to adapt and pivot to home delivery....with our share of hiccups...thank goodness for your support and patience!! We are soooo blessed to have a community around us that believes more than ever before that it's so important to support Local. Many are asking when we will open up for browsing again. Currently you can come in and we will pick and pack your groceries!! We want to open up so badly and we promise it will be soon!! Here are the things that we are considering and working on to enable us to open up. Staff safety. We need to take every precaution to ensure staff safety. This may mean moving separate packing shifts and retail shopping hours to enable our staff to effectively and safely shop for our delivery customers. Customer safety. We are working at arranging our store to allow for social distance. We are working on sanitation procedures and getting the proper supplies in place to be able to keep up with the sanitation required to keep our market a safe place to come. Installing a new POS system that will be able to handle a high volume of online orders and in store customers at the same time. We will be adding a second till so that we can move lineups through efficiently considering we will have to limit customers inside the store. We are well on our way on all of these considerations. Oh we cant wait until we can witness moments like this again To all our weddings, thank you for your patience as we try and work through this time together. We have been trying to rebook 2020 weddings that would like to rebook in 2021 before taking on any new weddings. It is such a great feeling when you pick your wedding date and your venue, photographer, caterer and DJ all line up!! You send your invites out and anticipate your special day ... But when you have to do it again with so much uncertainty....we know there has been tears, anxiety and worry but each one of you have been so brave and making the best out of an unfortunate situation. #throwbacksaturday 2 years ago we launched #savethebrick!! The Docks room was filled with bricks and we had a wedding fast approaching! We had a love for heritage and didnt want to throw out these bricks but it seemed overwhelming what to do. In discussions with the Regina's Warehouse District we came up with this ideas to sell the bricks....we had no idea how it would go. But we were so overwhelmed with the connections that we made and the stories that we heard and it just reassured us that because our personal story is so much about heritage this building is where we were meant to be! Thanks to everyone who came received a little piece of #yqrheritage !

We wanted to give you a quick update on our @localandfresh market. We have decided to close on Monday to make some changes in our store to improve the safety of our staff, our customers and ourselves. We will be back open on Tuesday. We are recommending you visit for takeout if possible, and will be spreading the tables out to allow more distance between each table for added protection. With so much uncertainty surrounding the recent outbreak of COVID-19 we wanted to give you an update on the measures that @localandfresh and Local Market are currently taking. We promise to continue doing our best to provide you a safe place for getting your groceries or just a comfortable and safe place to come for a coffee break or grab lunch. We have increased our sanitization measures within the market. We regularly pass through the market throughout the day s...anitizing door handles, shopping cart handles, our checkout area, scale and tills. We currently have two sanitizer stations present in the market and will be adding moreplease use them when coming into the store to protect yourself and others. As always, we wear disposable gloves when handling any raw food product. We have made sure we have a very good supply of gloves on hand! Our staff have been notified that they are NOT to come to work if they are experiencing ANY symptoms of a flu or cold. We also ask that if you are experiencing any symptoms to please stay home and we would be more than happy to deliver to you! We offer FREE delivery for groceries and only a $25 minimum.
