Local 1090 representatives participated in an Ontario-wide Video Conference this morning to discuss and prepare an aggressive lobby for the Safe Reopening of Casinos . Leaders from multiple Locals at different casinos from accross Ontario were in attendance! Local 1090 was represented by:... Corey Dalton - President, Local 1090 Greg Auchterlonie - Financial Secretary, Local 1090 Rob Milford - WSIB / Benefits Officer, Local 1090 Roy McDonald - Chairperson Casino Ajax / Pickering Casino Resort Mel Antonick - Chairperson Gateway Casino Innisfil Security Rob Bicknell - Chairperson Great Blue Heron Casino Greg Weaver - Chairperson Casino Rama Ongoing actions include (but are not limited to): National President Jerry Dias and his office will work to facilitate a meeting with Premier Doug Ford to lobby for the safe reopening of Ontario Casinos. Meetings have been requested with Local MPPs, Municipal Leaders, and Local Public Health representatives in each region of Local 1090's six (6) properties we represent (Rama, Innisfil, GBH, Ajax, PCR, Belleville). An e-petition platform will be created for members to easily contact their Local MPPs and share their thoughts. An Ontario-wide gaming workers video conference is currently being explored to share updates with Unifor members from all casinos. Please stay tuned for updates! This is a collaborative effort between Local 1090, Local 444, Local 199, Local 252, Local 504, Local 598 and our National Union to "get in the face" of our provincial leaders and show them once and for all that Casinos can be opened in a safe and responsible manner!

Applications for the 2021 Unifor Scholarships are now OPEN! There are a total of twenty-eight (28) scholarships available, each worth $2000. Scholarships are available to Children of Unifor members entering their first year of full-time post-secondary education.... BARGAINING UPDATE - SHORELINES CASINO BELLEVILLE Greetings Brothers and Sisters, Just wanted to update everyone that Bargaining is going well, things are moving along as expected.... We spent a full day yesterday negotiating with the company. We were back at the bargaining table early this morning and continue to work into the evening with hopes of securing a first Collective Agreement. We are scheduled for two more full days tomorrow and Thursday (March 10 and 11). We have spent many hours working hard on your behalf to negotiate 'non-monetary' issues with the company; we are hopeful to finalize those issues and move to 'monetary' issues by the end of this week. As always, it is our goal to reach a fair, first agreement on your behalf. We will keep you posted on the progression of our meetings but are not at liberty to discuss specifics at this time. We have reached a tentative agreement for our members at Gus Brown Buick GMC just minutes before the 11:59PM strike deadline. Ratification meeting is scheduled for Friday, October 30 @ noon!

Local 1090 has begun preparations for possible strike action at Gus Brown Buick GMC in Whitby as we work towards the 11:59PM deadline tonight. Porta-potties have been delivered to the picket line. Picket signs, tables, rain ponchos, coolers and tents are ready to go! The ball is in the company’s court right now! Earlier today, the Bargaining Committee tabled an offer that is extremely reasonable - it’s up to management to accept the offer! Tick-tock, tick-tock....

Local 1090 members at Gus Brown Buick GMC in Whitby have voted 92% in favour of their new 3-year Collective Agreement. Congratulations to the membership! Thanks for the hard work from our Bargaining Committee of Trevor, Dennis and Mark. Also, thanks to our Local 1090 reps Corey Dalton and Greg Auchterlonie, and our National Rep Josephine Petcher.

Local 1090 members at Signify give their Bargaining Committee a 96% Strike Mandate vote. Negotiations continue on Monday, October 5. The Union remains extremely optimistic that we will achieve a fair and equitable agreement.

Local 1090 members at Signify in Markham have ratified their new 3-year Collective Agreement at 100%. CBA Highlight includes: Wage increases in every year of the agreement (2% / 2% / 2%)... Increase in the Defined Benefit Pension Plan in each year of the agreement Benefit improvements to Chiropractor, Massage, Physio, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance Improvement to Boot Allowance Established a Woman's Advocate program Thank you to the hard work of the Signify Bargaining Committee members Jim Johnston and Lorne Geniole, as well as our Local Reps Corey Dalton (President) and Greg Auchterlonie (Financial Secretary). Also, a big thanks to our National Rep, Steve Batchelor.

Local 1090 Members at Maple Leaf Foods Port Perry have ratified a new 4-year Collective Agreement. Highlights of the agreement: Wage increases in every year of the agreement... Significant improvements to benefits Enhanced scheduling language and mandatory overtime protections. A huge congratulations goes out to the bargaining committee of Neil, Kathy, Rodney, Sylvia, and Herb. Also, thanks to the Unifor Representatives Corey Dalton, Rob Milford, and Steve Batchelor for their assistance!
