We sat down with Dr. Joanne Moyer from The King's University to talk about voluntary simplicity, a way to live and a way of life that rejects the high-consumption, materialistic lifestyles of consumer cultures and affirms what is often just called ‘the simple life’. Joanne Moyer is an associate professor of Environmental Studies and Geography at the King’s University. She received her PhD in Natural Resour...ce and Environmental Management from the University of Manitoba in 2013 and started working at The King’s University in 2015. She teaches courses such as Introduction to Sustainability, Human Geography, and The Study of Voluntary Simplicity. Her recent research explores faith-based organizations engaged in environmental work in Kenya and Canada. She has worked with the Mennonite Central Committee and currently serves as a council member for the Mennonite Creation Care Network. She is an avid commuter cyclist and enjoys exploring Edmonton’s river valley and ravines. See more
