It has been and continues to be such a hard year for everyone. We all brought the numbers down by staying home where possible, wearing our masks and keeping to our bubbles and we will bring these numbers down again. Please know we are here every day 10-5 to serve you. This time last year, it was only Sara and myself in the store and with the new interest in all things local, we more than doubled our staff. Although there aren’t as many customers in our store these days (as it should be with the stay at home order), we will have a fully trained staff by the time things work their way back to normal. Believe it or not fruits and vegetables are not the only food source that have seasonal implications. On small Canadian family farms, winter is often Calving Season. (See post from yesterday) Once you've had a chance to see the pictures, try to guess which pattern Eclair's calf will be!! Eclair is a Leopard pattern bred to a White with Black Points (Panda in my books). ... Speckle Park Beef come in 4 colour patterns. 1. Speckled 2. Leopard 3. White with Black Points 4. Solid Black Speckles are predominantly black with white top line and underline, speckled hips and sometimes shoulders and black or roan face. Leopards show more white than speckles. Black sides can be broken into spots, sometimes more white than black. They also have white top and underline, the difference being the number of spots. White with Black Points (I personally wish the association would call these Pandas ) are predominantly white but always have black points -ears, nose, skin around the eyes, muzzle and lower portions of the legs including hooves. All these points are black on all 4 patterns including the teats.
