Dixon joined the 4th Line team as an Artistic Associate in November 2020 to assist the company in further developing its equity, inclusivity and diversity initiatives and strategies. PROPEL WEEKLY WRITING PROGRAM Also launching in February is a new initiative, Propel Weekly Writing Program. Anyone interested in participating in invited to join Kim Blackwell for one or all in this 11-week series of online, twice-a-week writing/creation workshops, designed to inspire writers and creators and to allow them to commit time to their projects. There will also be time in each session to discuss work and collect feedback.

Q&A with Cheryl Foggo, director of John Ware Reclaimed, hosted by Shaela Abbott-McLeod https://watch.eventive.org//5ff7d/6005c544757f9b009f0...fe79e Cheryl Foggo is an award-winning author, playwright, and filmmaker whose work over the last 30 years has focused on the lives of Western Canadians of African descent. She directed the short film Kicking Up a Fuss: The Charles Daniels Story and is a recipient of the Sondra Kelly Award from the Writers Guild of Canada, as well as the 2015 Alberta Literary Award for Drama from the Writers’ Guild of Alberta. Her books include the recently released 30th-anniversary edition of Pourin’ Down Rain: A Black Woman Claims Her Place in the Canadian West; the young adult novels One Thing That’s True and I Have Been in Danger; and a children’s picture book, Dear Baobab. Shaela Abbott-McLeod Is a third year student at Trent University and a powerful activist in her community. She studies English with a focus on the representation of the Black body in literature. In her community she is a member of BLM Nogojiwanong and is a board member of Arthur Newspaper. Shaela also runs a podcast with her sister called Black Girls Chatter where they cover the difficult topics surrounding race and racism. In the past, Shaela has worked with ReFrame to interview directors of the the films Above the Law and Our Dance of Revolution and hosted a panel involving community figures.
