Yoga has had the power to turn this incredibly stressful weird 6 months into a period of time for me to truly appreciate yoga and what it has done for both my mind and my body. Who’s ready for HOT infrared yoga?? With the world the way it is now I’m definitely happy with choosing to use such a clean source of heat. Infrared is the absolute best! No forced air from dusty vents, the panels above you heat your body rather than the room itself I have been turning them off for some classes depending on if students request it but very soon, we will be assigning most of our vinyasa classes Infrared vinyasa classes, with some exceptions to keep some clas...ses gently warm. Yoga classes start NEXT MONDAY!! How exciting is that?! A few important things to note: -floor markers will be in place, allowing a maximum number of 11 students (previous maximum was 22 and some classes were full), so be sure to book your spot ahead of time. ... -online booking is important so that I have an understanding of class sizes and I can add classes if the demand is there. -you must bring your own mat, water, props. I do have mats for sale, but I will not be able to lend mats out during this time. -masks are mandatory at all times, other then when class has begun and I will instruct that you are able to remove your mask if you would like. This includes up until I begin the class, if you choose to arrive early to meditate. -inside the studio must be very quiet. I ask everyone to remain silent upon entering inside the studio and taking your place on your mat. This is to respect others choosing to meditate before class begins. -arrive to class 5-15 minutes before the scheduled class time. -enter through the main front door and head up the stairs where you’ll be greeted by me at the new registration desk just outside of the yoga studio. No need to enter the spa downstairs anymore. -drop in classes have increased slightly in price to add in hst. To make it easy, drop ins are $18 (15.93+ tax). -no infrared yoga until the cooler weather. Thanks everyone and I am so excited to see you all very soon!! It will just be myself teaching all listed classes for now so our schedule has decreased slightly. Ok guys, I’m brainstorming and anticipating a reopen date of 2 weeks from now!! Comment below your favourite class time, and what style of yoga you love best! Keep in mind that the infrared panels will remain off until cooler weather. It’s warm up there when the a/c is turned off so will be able to offer warm classes Few things to note: Floor markers will be in place to socially distance each person during class. No mats will be lent out. I have some for purchase or you... have to bring your own. Masks will be worn at all times before and after class. Masks may only be removed when class begins. Blocks are available to use and will be wiped down between classes as well as all surfaces, so use the blocks at your discretion. No hands on assists will be offered, this unfortunately includes the savasana assists. I am soo excited to start teaching again! As you can see from the picture above, I have been practicing at home and still working through some of my favourite vinyasa flows so that I’m not too rusty Miss you all!! This smile right here is of pure joy and excitement upon finding out that we get to FINALLY open again!! We have been closed for too many weeks to even count anymore, and I’m pretty sure we have now been closed longer than we had been open. My eyes could burst into tears and that’s been pretty much my experience since opening the studio January 2nd of this year. When we first opened I was so happy I could cry. When my classes starting filling up I could cry from exciteme...nt. When the cold dark mornings sometimes only brought 1 or 2 students I could cry from both thoughts of worry that my classes weren’t good enough, and both gratitude that these students chose to wake up and join me. I’ve gone through so many emotions as a (new) small business owner. I never imagined that those things I stressed over in the beginning would become so minuscule compared to stresses I have now faced over the countless weeks of this pandemic. I am thrilled to pieces that the spa is fully operational as of Friday and now my next greatest adventure/stress begins as I create a NEW schedule and NEW policies for Lock 34 Yoga! I cannot wait to see all of your (masked) faces again soon! And if you’re like me, concerned about wearing a mask during practice, be assured that masks will be worn when entering the studio, registering for class, and leaving. Be brave enough to suck at something new. A phrase I heard last weekend while at Joga training in California with this amazing group of people. It resonated with me as I struggled to grasp choreography and cues that seemed so new to me, yet made so much sense from a yoga perspective. Joga is an incredible program. It really is designed for everybody, with a specific focus on athletes. The sequences, the dynamic positions and the static holds, all combined together to del...iver one insanely effective active recovery workout. I won’t lie, I struggled a lot, both physically, and mentally. But I also gained strength, both physically and mentally. The program has the ability to humble even the most trained athletes and also build confidence in a beginner. I am so excited to bring bits and pieces of this new knowledge into my expertise in the studio! That being said, who would love to get a taste of Joga?! I’ll be bringing some of the heat tomorrow at both classes! 6am for the morning birds, and 7pm for the night owls!!
