In recent weeks, I have spoken with many clients sharing their concerns about high levels of exhaustion in this 2nd COVID wave. In the 1st wave there was adrenalin, shock and threats to respond to. This wave is trying our psychological stamina aka Resilience, as we see people bored, disconnected and unnerved. Over a decade in, having coached hundreds of leaders, I believe now is the most opportune time for leaders to reach out to a trusted coach to journey with in this strange new world. There are self-imposed roadblocks, the most prominent one being 'too busy' to reach out, even though it could be just what is needed. The other is 'coachability'. Not every one is ready to be coached, even when they could gain the most from it. I can identify with this HBR articles seven characteristics of people who thrive in coaching. After all, I have a coach too and benefit immensely from that relationship.
