Obituary - Dr. George Plamoottil Varkey We are sad to share the news that one of a senior member of our community Dr. George Plamoottil Varkey passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021 in London Ontario. Dr.George initially came to Canada in 1958 to pursue post-graduate training in anesthesia, in Montreal after completing his undergraduate medical training at the Christian Medical College in Vellore. He moved to London Ontario in 1973, to the University Hospital in London, Ontari...o, where he worked until retiring in 1996. A Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Sunday, March 28, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. May his soul Rest in Peace. LOMA - Inviting sponsorship for Christmas Events 2020 As you all know LOMA is a well-established and highly respected community organization in London Ontario. LOMA’s various festivals and events offer a forum to celebrate the artistic and cultural excellence and provide the opportunity for London Malayalee's to contribute to the expression of their identity and this year was no different. During the pandemic we organized online contests which were very well noticed and well ...received. During summer we conducted a fishing contest for Londoners which saw many fishing enthusiasts trying their luck to win the prize money. During Onam we organized Thiruvathira and Pookkalam competition which was a resounding success in terms of the enthusiastic participation and excitement of London Malayalee’s. The videos launched with sponsor ads were a hit with the online viewership at an all-time high of more than 30000 views between our Facebook Page, Group alone. Currently, we are actively looking for sponsors for the Christmas events. We are planning to conduct a Cake Competition, online Christmas family photo contest and a Gingerbread House Competition. Your ad will be displayed prominently on the flyer and circulated on all the LOMA social media platforms. You will be getting good coverage as we have time till Christmas for the events and we will be promoting the contest all throughout the period.
