I write to you today, not as a business owner, but as a fellow Canadian. Today, we are called to a most important task: to serve our country. Not in the way that our ancestors were called to serve their countries many years ago, going out on battlefields risking their lives to fight for the freedom of their people. No, today we are called to simply #stayhome. We are called to stay home to protect the lives of those who are most vulnerable, our elderly and our neighbors w...ith compromised immune systems. We are called to stay home to protect our frontline workers and first responders so that they are able to continue helping those who fall ill to the virus or to those suffering from other illnesses and injuries. We are called to stay home so that Personal Support Workers can continue supporting individuals with mental conditionals and/ or functional limitations without fear that they may be spreading the virus in these vulnerable homes. We are called to stay home so that those working to bring us food and other essential goods can do so without fear that they themselves will become sick or that they will bring home the virus to their loved ones. We are called to stay home so that the time frame for self-isolation and social distancing is minimized to allow small businesses the opportunity to open their doors again. We are called to stay home to flatten the curve, allowing peace of mind to pregnant mothers who will be giving birth in a few weeks’ time. We are called to stay home so that once again soon we can be able to connect with our parents, grandparents, siblings, family members and friends. We are called to stay home NOW so that we can all return to normalcy in the near future. Asking Canadians to serve their country by staying home is not asking for much. It is the easiest thing we Canadians can do to protect our country, to protect our people. Canadians are regarded around the world as selfless, polite and kind peacekeepers. How well are you standing up to our reputation? How well are you answering the call? How we act NOW will affect what the next two weeks or two months hold for us. Please, #stayhome #stayhomestaysafe

We have now entered into a new and beautiful season! Spring - a time for rebirth. Our current situation is most definitely challenging for so many. Staying positive is vital. Try to view this challenge as an opportunity to witness and immerse ourselves in the beauty of that which surrounds us. Take walks in nature with your loved ones and see not only growth in the landscape, but see and feel the growth happening in your relationships. Please continue to be safe and self isolate to protect our community.
