The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted access to the supports and services in place to provide quality of life care to people with disabilities. Today, I have sent a letter to Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau to demand more support for essential and frontline workers as we enter yet another wave of COVID-1...9. Over 1 million Canadians have now been infected with COVID-19 and that number is rising. We believe it is time for Justin Trudeau to show leadership. The federal government can and should be doing more to protect Canadians. I have outlined numerous solutions including faster vaccination for workers who can't stay home and better access to federal sick leave benefits. What we need is an all-hands-on deck approach. Lives depend on it. You can count on New Democrats to take action to stop the spread of the virus and the sickness and deaths that will occur if he does nothing.

VACCINE UPDATE FOR THOSE 65 OR OLDER, FARM WORKERS and ESSENTIAL WORKERS MLHU has announced the vaccination clinics will now be opened for those turning 65 in 2...021 and older. MLHU has announced that PRE-REGISTRATION has opened for ESSENTIAL WORKERS (OF ANY AGE) WHO CANNOT WORK FROM HOME, which includes AGRICULTURE AND FARM WORKERS. To note, it also includes TRUCK DRIVERS and VETERNARIANS/VET STAFF. Organizations/businesses must pre-register and once they are eligible, the organization contact person will be contacted with appointment and booking information which can be shared confidentially with eligible staff members. Other essential organizations that can pre-register for vaccine appointments include: elementary/secondary school workers (including educators, custodial, school bus drivers and admin staff), workers responding to critical events, enforcement/inspection/compliance staff, individuals working in licensed childcare, foster care agency workers, manufacturing industries supporting COVID19 response (infrastructure construction), social workers and social services staff, courts and justice system workers, transportation/warehouse/distribution workers, electricity, water and wastewater management services, financial service workers (bank branch staff), waste management workers, oil and petroleum workers, natural gas and propane gas workers, mine workers and processing uranium workers.
