The London Skating club, with the support of Tourism London, is proud to have been selected a recipient of the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Sport Relief Fund for 2020. This grant will allow us to maintain our Canskate program through these difficult times.

The London Skating Club was disheartened by the announcement by the Middlesex London Health Unit regarding the new COVID-19 measures that will impact our operations, as we have made every effort to maintain the health and safety of our skaters and were surprised by the announcement. We ask for your patience over the next few days while we review how this will affect our programming and reevaluate how we will proceed with the new guidelines in place. All programs will run as ...scheduled until this Friday evening, as the order does not take effect until Saturday at 12:01 am. Please refrain from emailing or calling the club office over the next few days as we will be unable to respond while we work on readjusting to meet the new guidelines. We will post an update on our website and social media as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.

The London Skating Club Synchronicity Adult Skater of the Year Award goes to Johanna Fraser. After stepping back on the ice after a few years away from the sport, Johanna quickly became a kind and caring member of the Synchronicity family... even skating on 2 of our Adult teams! Johanna helped to make everyone feel like a valued member of the team and would go out of her way to help those that needed it. Even after a serious injury on the ice this season, she was laughing and... making those around her smile! Johanna truly embodies what the sport is all about. When Johanna isn’t on the ice she’s is one of our front line health care workers! Congratulations to Johanna Fraser, London Skating Club Synchronicty Adult Skater of the Year.

The London Skating Club Adult StarSkate of the Year Award goes to Cathy Lynd, who has a great work ethic. Cathy is very positive, she empowers the skates on stroking whether on Star 5 sessions or Adult session to step up to do their best. There is always a word of encouragement and Cathy exhibits true sportsmanship.... To say that Cathy had a very successful season is an understatement and here is a list of her accomplishments as an adult competition: Lake Placid ISU Adult Competition October 2019: Gold Adult Silver Interpretive (Group of 16 skaters) Bronze Adult Silver Free Skate (Group of 18 skaters) Gold Adult Silver Pattern Dance with her husband Fred. Stratford December 2019 Adult Competition: Gold Adult Silver Interpretive Gold Adult Silver Free Skate Winter World Masters Games Innsbruck 2020, Innsbruck, Austria, ISU Adult Competition: Silver Adult Silver Ladies Artistic (Group of 17 skaters) Silver Adult Silver Ice Free Dance with her husband Fred. Gold Adult Silver Pattern Dance with her husband Fred. This was an outstanding season and behalf of all of us at the London Skating Club, congratulations to Cathy Lynd, London Skating Club Adult StarSkate Skater of the Year

The London Skating Club Star 1-4 StarSkate Skater of the Year Award goes to a very deserving young man who has caught the eyes of many coaches with his smile, enthusiasm for skating and how polite he is. Abiinav competed for his first time in February 2020 at the London Great Lakes 2020 Competition and was so relaxed, happy and encouraging to all fellow athletes in his group. Even the officials and coaches on the ice were commenting on his happy go lucky nature.... Abiinav also was a Program Assistant on the two CanSkate sessions a week and is a natural teacher. As if that wasn’t enough, Abiinav joined the Synchronicity family this past season and skated synchro. Abiinav personally skated in the Star program completing Skills 1, Dance 1, 2A (Dutch Waltz) and 2B (Canasta Tango.) Keep up the positive attitude and spirit and don’t stop smiling. It is with great pleasure that we present this award to Abiinav Rajadurai.

Congratulations to Lydia Zadorsky for qualifying for the 2020 Skate Ontario Provincial Championships Juvenile Under 14.

Congratulations to Louise Parker who received her Skate Canada Gold Award for completing all levels of the Skate Canada Skating Skills requirements. Louise received her award at the awards drop in night outside at Nichols Arena on August 13th. Well done Louise!

The London Skating Club Competitive Skater of the Year has worked very hard this past competitive season. She started the season trying to get over a growth spurt and relearning her centre of gravity while jumping. Because of her young age Abby Donald competes the younger age categories for both Pre-Juvenile and Star 7 which are highly competitive. Taking everything her Select coach threw at her and persevering through the year, she consistently added difficulty to her sol...o’s at every competition. Abby’s goal for the season was to make it to provincials. All her hard work and training culminated in her being the only select skater qualifying for Provincials in both Pre-Juvenile and Star 7. Congratulations to Abby Donald for receiving the London Skating Club’s Competitive Skater of the Year award as well as recognition for qualifying for the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships in Pre-Juvenile Under 11 & Star 7 Under 12.
