Chickadee Kindergarten students found their eggs cracked open yesterday and a surprise inside.
We all might need this today... "In these times, In these uncertain times, I will remain open To the miracle... That is each moment." See more
"It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade." Charles Dickens Tiny celebrations of this season and it’s gifts: renewal, birth, colour, steadfastness, patience, and beauty. 1. Lady Spring tends the garden during story time in the Sparrows, 2. Springtime crafts in Grade One!
This weekend marked the Spring Equinox, or the first day of spring. It was also Nowruz (or Persian New Year). We hope the sunshine brought rejuvenation and joy to all celebrating this weekend, and are looking forward to the warmth in the forecast for the upcoming week! Chalkboard drawing inspired by The Story of Root Children by Sibille Von Olfers. #spring #hope #newbeginnings
Here are some of our favorite Lantern Festival photos from our AWSNA member schools. This little light of mine; I'm gonna let it shine... For you and me.
How far that little candle throws his beams! So shines a good deed in a weary world. ~W. Shakespeare #gooddeeds #lostandfound
Dear Waldorf School Parents, Teachers and Administrators: How are you maintaining hope and where are you finding gratitude this year? Please share with us all in the comments. Tell us what school you represent and your role in the community.
Grade Six made geometric forms at Springbank Park in Byron - practicing making six-division circles and concentric hexagrams/six-pointed stars for their own practice and to decorate the paths for people over the weekend. Thank you to the parent who took these beautiful photos! #art #math #geometry #geometricart #ldnont #spreadjoy
Getting ready for a Lantern Walk on this beautiful autumn day.

"I hope my son remembers this [pandemic] winter as one filled with rosy cheeks, hot cocoa breaks, snow forts and so much fun."
It was the first #rainyday here since our return to school. Our outdoor classrooms served as a cosy place for students today like this #storytime in Grade Three. #outdoorlearning #resilience #cosy
Yesterday we ran for #terryfox on a fine Michaelmas day in our other backyard Gibbons Park, among the golden and orange leaves and the green grass, and the weeping willows. Each class ran individually this year, instead of the whole school together- we are building strength, resilience, and courage like Terry.
Happy Michaelmas Day!
A beautiful story about our former Educational Support Teacher and beloved friend Susan Brown’s own family tradition.
This festival is known as the Festival of the Will or the Festival of Courage. While this year grade school students will not be performing the play for families, each class will still mark the occasion. Students will hear the story of townsfolk who face the fearful prospect of the Dragon coming to devour one of them once every year! They call on St. Michael, who helps them to subdue (not slay) and thus redeem the Dragon. ... The townsfolk learn to face their fears and shortcomings with courage and determination. In the words of the play: Iron brings courage to Face what you fear, The dragons out there and the Dragons in here. Listen to Grade Six practice The Dragon https://youtu.be/FCLA7WJ1CeU

Celebrating the season through painting: Grade Two paints Dragon Fire for the Michaelmas season, and Grade Five pains a beautiful autumn sunset. #autumn #seasons #festivals #colour #watercolourpainting #waldorfeducation
Grade Six takes advantage of the large spaces outside to use string telephones part of their #physics main lesson block! #experientiallearning #outdoorlearning #sound #waves #hearing #vibrations
Grade Five beginning the year with a main lesson block in Botany ~a perfect fit for outdoor learning! Waldorf Grade Five curriculum introduces students to the study of Botany. Students investigate plants using observation as a scientific method. Carefully and accurately noting what they observe, this begins an awareness of the natural world and its relationship to the human being. #ilookintotheworld #observation #science #waldorfeducation #outdoorlearning
Each year, we have an assembly on the first day of school where the Grade School teachers reveal the exciting topics their classes will study in the coming year by adding some ingredients to the "potjie pot". This year, no assembly, but you can see what each grade will encounter by watching this video!~ https://youtu.be/E2MJsCGkCxI
Grade One form drawing lesson. Beginning in first grade and extending throughout her time at a Waldorf school, a student engages in drawing exercises that range from very simple to very complex, according to her grade and various topics of study. Straight and curved lines form the foundation for letters in 1stgrade, for Celtic knots in 4th and Geometry in middle school. Over and over, drawing both imparts knowledge and folds it back into oneself. read more on What is Form Drawing on www.Waldorfish.com https://www.google.ca//waldo/blog/formdrawing%3fformat=amp
If you’re in Grade Two at London Waldorf School, this is what some of your day is like... #outdoorlearning #naturekids #handsonlearning
In Waldorf schools effort is made to observe significant moments in childhood and to celebrate these with traditions that have meaning for children. The Rose Ceremony happens twice each year: near the first day of school our grade eight students welcome the new grade ones to the grade school, and on the last day of school the grade one students give the grade eights a red rose to say goodbye. Leaving kindergarten and entering first grade is an enormous shift for children. ... This year, our ceremony looked a little bit different, but it retained its beauty and meaning.
Our member schools have opened (or are preparing to open) in a myriad of ways. They are navigating mandates and innovating to best meet the needs of their communities. Enjoy these back to school photos from across N. America!
Thanks to all parents who attended our last School Reopening Information Session tonight. We cannot wait to see your children next week! To all our faculty working hard to prepare for the magical moments of next week: Go Team Waldorf!
Two lookouts on the playground this morning! Are the kids here yet? No, not yet. But soon! #nature #naturalizedplayground @ London Waldorf School
Curious about what London Waldorf School is all about? Take a tour! Since we can't take you through our school in person right now we asked our friends at Take 5 Digital to help us give you a little "window" into life at LWS. (They've done a wonderful job!) If you'd like to know more about our school and the possibilities for your family, email Lex at [email protected]
Kinder. Garden. Smaller classes and being outdoors are part of our response plan to make sure our students and faculty stay safe this September! We’re building another Kindergarten yard for our students to explore and play in. Fence construction is coming along nicely! #kindergarten #ldnont
Today we completed the floors for our new outdoor classrooms. While our school has always valued time outdoors, we will spend even more time outside come September as part of our plan to mitigate transmission risk during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many other Waldorf schools are also taking classes outside! In the true spirit of Waldorf education, our schools seek to not only meet the whole child developmentally, but to meet the immediate and future needs of our communities and our world.
