Lone Sequoia Ranch 10.05.2021

I put my hands on the sheep everyday, even if it’s just as they fly past me on the way to their grain. Some of them like Betty and Alfie really come in for a visit when they see me. It’s important for me to be with them twice a day to help me stay on top of anything that could be wrong. Tonight I gathered flock fecal samples that I will run at work tomorrow to make sure they don’t have parasite loads that are concerning (I don’t think they do because it’s winter, but I check every few months) I want to be on top of that before lambing and so I have a baseline for when I check in the spring. #canadianwool #bcwool #sheepofinstagram #fibrefarmer

The eagle has landed. My brother in law texted me yesterday to let me know that the fibre is at @customwoolenmills So now we wait... about 8 weeks. As soon as the fibre is back, I will spin up samples, photograph and list it! ... I’m excited about this batch of roving, it’s because of you guys that I have it. I threw an idea out there and here it is. Local Okanagan wool that will make its way into the hands of makers instead of the compost. #localwool #okanaganvalley #cotswoldwool #shetlandwool #weaversofinstagram #spinnersofinstagram #bcwool See more

You guys!!! I’m SOLD OUT of fibre! These last two packages contain every L A S T speck of fibre I have! Thank you all so so much for all the support! This week I am headed to a farm to hopefully pick up some fleeces. Shetland, Cotswold and Jacob I believe! This is happening because of you believing in my passion to get more fibre in your hands! To those of you that purchased one of our calendars thank you! And it’s not too late I still have some left! #canadianwool #canadianfibre #localwool #lumbybc #okanaganbc #supportyourfibrefarmer and @birchhillstudio for the wonderful OKV (Okanagan Valley) hat!

When I started telling people I wanted to raise sheep to sell wool I was told over and over that it wasn’t worth it. Mark was even convinced that it most likely wouldn’t be doable. Well guess what? I only have a small amount left. This got me thinking... what if I could buy some more fleece from other farmers? Farmers that just throw their fleece away, burn it, or compost it... I would like to buy 15 to start, and I can’t just take hay money to do that so I made a calendar wi...th pictures that I have taken around the ranch to fund it. The calendars (that are printed in Canada) arrived a week earlier than expected so I wanted to share them right away! I’m so excited! They are ready to be mailed! I am asking $22 per calendar (shipping included!) and profits will be used strictly for buying fleeces in the spring! I only printed 25 (just in case!) so if they don’t sell everyone knows what they are getting for a Christmas from us! let me know if you would like one and I can get it out to you! Thanks everyone!
