Longlac Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day Celebrations 2020 The COVID-19 pandemic has... caused us to make significant changes to the celebrations this year. The outside celebration will occur without spectators. A small group will continue the tradition at the cenotaph. The majority of the wreathes will be preplaced. This part of the ceremony will be live streamed on this Facebook page. The inside ceremony will be cancelled. Schools are in the process of creating posters, essays, and poems. Once Judging is complete the winners will be given the awards at their respective schools. Award winners will be posted on our Facebook page. Please continue to show your support for our war veterans by purchasing and wearing a poppy this season and tuning in to our live stream on November 11th at 11:00 am. Please, share! See more

Longlac Curling Club COVID -19 Procedures for Curling Starting week of November 1st, 2020- PLEASE SHARE WITH CURLERS - FACE COVERINGS required when not on ice surface. Face coverings may be removed while playing or consuming food or beverage. Bar will be open. - You will be asked to sign a new waiver, which is related to COVID-19. - If you are sick, you will be asked not to come to curl while you are symptomatic. ... - Doors will be open 15 minutes before the event starts, then locked. Once in, if you leave no re-entry. - When entering the club turn left and head upstairs to the hand sanitizing station. Sanitize your hands, then sign in with your name and phone number. - Go to a table to change into your curling gear. Locker rooms will be closed this year. At the first time you go to the club access to your locker will be provided. Then the locker rooms will be closed for the year. - For those needing brooms/sliders we will be signing them out at the first night. You will keep them for the year. - When going to the ice surface keep two meters away from the person in front. Follow green lines down to the back steps. Players going to sheet one go first, then two, three, four. Game Play There have also been some changes to the rules of the game of curling through Curling Canada: Please review the attached link for game procedure. https://youtu.be/xCo9rksHZSk No shaking hands before or after the games. Hammer will be decided by a method other than a coin toss (TBD). Players must stay on 1 side of the sheet, instead of a mix of both (ie. sheet 1 players stay on the wall, not between sheet 1 and 2, while sheet 2 players stay between sheet 1 and 2, etc.) You will use the same two/three rocks the entire game. Rocks will be sanitized after each use. There will be new rules for positioning while playing the game - these will be outlined with positions on the ice surface. There will only be 1 sweeper at all times and they cannot swap off. Skips cannot sweep rocks at all, whether it be in the house or after the tee line. Scoreboards will not be used. Club needs volunteers to: - Sanitize chairs and handles after each event - Sanitize rocks after each event - Monitor sign in book at beginning See more
