It doesnt get sweeter than this. Our bonded pair of Barred Plymouth Rock from our original flock 5 years ago (pets) continue to take care of the guinea and silkie teens. Its an unlikely friendship that demonstrates how much birds are social beings.
Sometimes you just have to hop into your sons wagon with him and hang out with some woollies in the pasture
After losing our large maple tree in the fall, our farm didnt feel quite the same and our birds lost a huge protector from birds of prey. Thankfully, a good friend hooked us up with two bur oak trees (native to NB and unfortunately rare) and a yellow birch tree. Im so excited to share life on the farm with these beauties and watch them grow More on bur oak trees : https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.266990

2 year old pet quality IRD drake looking to fly the coop
New kid on the block.
Who run the world? GIRLS!!
If you cant beatem, joinem. I have accepted that anything growing on the outside of the garden fence is fair game. The are not complaining. #day1freeranging
Our grass might be dead, but theres still lots of life on the farm
Our dinosaurs are growing so fast!
Teenagers these days!
Mama and babes first time on grass! Its so much fun to watch them explore their world!
Good morning from Orlaith! Shes getting big and still an escape artist! She has moved to knocking the electric fence down and setting the alpacas free. Shes lucky shes cute!
We welcomed some little dinosaurs to the farm - Lavender and coral Guinea Fowl that will help keep the tick numbers down. Beauties!
After breeding dozens of Mille Fleur DUccle chicks over the last few years I hatched a surprise... a Porcelain! Cant wait to see how he/she matures.
Broke my loyalty to my Indian Runners and added a couple of Call Ducks (pets) to the flock! Theyre insanely cute - pictured with an Indian Runner Duckling that is only a week older.
With whispers of poultry shows possibly starting back up I cant help but get excited thinking about who Id send. Misty, named by a couple of girls who raised her for us, is definitely on the list! Its still early, but shes meeting the SOP requirements for her breed so far. Hopefully she fills out well by fall!
Long necks come in handy for reaching high apple tree leaves.
Welcomed a couple of Belgian kids to the farm. You cant beat a doting broody hen!
Funny how magical a farm can feel sometimes...
Who needs a border collie when you have Orlaith! Such a brat!
The translation isnt perfect, but the information is! I see so many people keeping alpacas alone as a companion to another species. They dont only thrive with other alpacas, they NEED that companionship.
~A boy and his lamb~ This may have been the sweetest thing I have ever experienced in my life. I often sit with Vaughn and watch Aoife and her lamb, Orlaith, graze, but today little Orlaith curled right up to Vaughn to rest. Vaughn loved every minute and laid right down beside her and she rested her head on him
When youre bad, youre baaaaaaaaad. Little Orlaith has been sneaking out of her moms pen and having a field day with our ducks and chickens! What a little pest! She never stays out long as she bolts right back at the sound of mom calling her.
Full clean pool and they prefer the puddle.
Forget the dogs! The future of herding is drones https://www.cnet.com//boston-dynamics-robot-dog-spot-herd/
Little Orlaith is learning just how yummy grass is! Love watching her explore!

Found a broody hen sitting on some eggs buried under the alpacas hay feeder and another sitting on eggs high up in the rafters of another barn. Tis the season
Little Orlaith demanding some love this morning. Puppy sheep in the making
Absolute cutest!
Life on the farm can switch from the most beautiful moments to heartbreaking in the blink of an eye. Sadly, we lost our little ram lamb born a couple of days ago. We tried everything we could but couldnt get him to come around. Many thanks to some great friends and mentors near and far for their advice, reassurance and coming to lend supplies at the drop of a dime. A beautiful twist to this story, is that as our little ram passed on, life was literally being welcomed on thi...s side of earth in the nearby barn. She is strong, curious and nursing like a champ! Welcome little Orlaith (pronounced Or-la, Gaelic for golden), our little golden lamb
Twyla and Gidget are pumped for the pool to open! Never too early to play in the water!
Hows your morning going?
