Dear Friends, I am writing this with a heavy heart and many tears. This morning, before sunrise, in keeping with tradition, Ian took off to join Goofy, Sammy, Ben, Hoover, Mona, Trotzky, Sky, Sue and Bess on the Long Walk through the sky.... He will be missed dearly, but I feel certain he is in good company, and happier than he was these last few months. I only regret that i will have to finish reading Winnie the Pooh by myself. He leaves behind a host of prints. Please contact me if you wish to obtain any of them. I don't have the heart to try and sell them just now, but will accept donations to my fundraiser for Rudi's travel expenses. Thank you for brightening Ian's life. Karin

Dear friends, I am saddened to be the bearer of bad news today. Some of you have been kept in the loop, others may have wondered about the radio silence.... Last December, Ian was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. He decided to fight, several rounds of chemo, and then surgery, all leaving him weaker and weaker. Complications and infections have kept him hospitalized for months now. We have reached the point where we have to concede defeat. Ian will move from acute hospital care to palliative treatment this week. From there, I'm sad to say it will only be a matter of time. I'm writing to you, to let you know what is happening. I don't expect you to call - he really isn't capable of answering the phone most days. And visiting is currently restricted to one person a day (preferably me). Which may change once he is in palliative care, so let me know if you do wish to see him and i will talk to his care team to arrange a visit. Should you wish to do so, you may send him a note via email, either through myself, [email protected] or the hospital. This may not be my normal, but it makes an important statement of our time. The machine at the window, extra light, between the two bedroom, so the children might be watched. A classic example of upper crust Canadian living. Ireland House just on Guelph Line, go enjoy or view my tour. I have a feeling it is about to expand.

Red Leader What a title you say. Maybe , we all know and see Red Leader every day , sometimes more than a few times. Red Leader led the battle against the death star, you don’t think the shape of futuristic war ships are an accident. Have you ever wondered why, despite our constant interference, Geese always return home?... If it be the top of 30 stories or some grimy filled in ditch. Always back home. You see every Goose squadron or flight has a Red Leader. The one Goose that has been granted the wisdom and knowledge of ages. Humans are not evolved enough to see Red Leader. Young Geese have the best eyes and follow Red Leader to the end. I know, because a long time ago I was lost in the greyness of Berlin, Germany. I could not see any color but grey. Then as I walked through a small field behind our apartment I heard that wonderful annoying honk of what can only be a Canada Goose. Second image from the front was Red Leader, I could see the red, the ravages of time, split wings and holes. Red Leader flew low over my head. I now knew, and could continue. Some of the best image’s I ever captured was under Red Leaders tutelage. Oh Canada I could drink a case of you. See more
