UPDATED PUBLIC HEALTH ORDERS! Please be advised that the Provincial Health Officer has issued a variance to the Gatherings and Events Order specific to outdoor worship services, effective March 23, 2021 until further notice. This repeals and replaces all existing variances issued to religious communities in recent weeks and effectively forms part of the Gatherings and Events Order This variance allows all religious communities to hold outdoor religious worship services, on...ly if they comply with the conditions contained in the variance. UPDATE MARCH 20, Northern Health COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution (Website linked below) Northern Health continues to adjust COVID-19 vaccine appointment eligibilities and clinic dates, as BC’s COVID-19 Immunization Plan moves forward ahead of schedule.... The age-based vaccine rollout using the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines is accelerating across the province. The best resources for information continue to be the Northern Health website’s COVID-19 Vaccination Plan page, as well as local Northern Health Community Facebook groups. Northern Health has been following a condensed schedule for opening booking opportunities to eligible age groups; generally (and since March 10, 2021) appointment eligibility is currently open to 80 years of age and over, and Indigenous people 65 and older - though there are local variations. A number of Northern Health communities’ age-based eligibility will soon open to those 70 years of age and older; and in some communities, to those 18 years of age and older. The latter have been chosen for a ‘whole community approach to vaccinating residents all at once due to population size, remoteness, and/or accessibility and these can be expanded to address outbreaks, clusters or high population incidence rates. The Northern Health call centre to book COVID-19 appointments, based on age range and local eligibility, continues to operate 7am to 7pm PST, seven days a week, and clinic dates and locations will be confirmed at the time of booking. Again, Northerners are encouraged to visit the Northern Health website for details on their local appointment eligibility schedules and to call based on those dates to help helping the booking system operate more smoothly and ensure those who are eligible can be booked quickly and efficiently. https://www.northernhealth.ca/health/covid-19-vaccine-plan

Attention plum and cherry tree owners - take a look at your trees to see if they have Black Knot Fungus on them. If they do, you need to check out this link. Thank you Shell for helping the community combat this!

From the Office of Mayor Lori Ackerman: "On behalf of the Council of Fort St. John, we want to acknowledge the value of our friendship and partnerships with our... First Nation neighbours. The Tsaa? Çhé ne Dane welcomed those who came to this region and in many cases helped those who first came this way to survive these winters. Learning about the history of the Dene-zaa did not happen overnight and we are still learning. Through this, Council looks forward to every opportunity to engage and create communities where our grandchildren’s grandchildren will continue to work and grow together. We do not and never will condone racism within our walls or our community. An egregious error was made by one of our colleagues. We will invite them to learn with us."
