Thank Goodness for Grandchildren! When we built our little Bunkie so the Grandkids would have a nice place to stay when they visited, we never imagined that it would become our interim home! That and the garage (our swanky make-shift kitchen) It's funny the things that you think will be difficult living through a renovation of this magnitude and the things that actually turn out to be difficult--I thought I'd hate the Porta-Potty, which is gross, but tolerable, but I never ...even considered the sand! Sand, sand everywhere! In your shoes, in your bed, like a beach on the floors! Oy! Have you ever lived through a reno? How did it go?

So, it all started last July 15th. Our beloved little cottage was (mostly) taken down so we could start the process of building a new 4-season home! Talk about mixed emotions! It was soooo hard to watch it go and yet soooo exciting to move on with a new adventure. This actually wasn't even the real beginning of the process, permits and packing and planning and plotting all need to be done way before the demo can happen. Boy, did we learn a lot! I love learning by doing. There is something about hands-on experience that is like nothing else. Have you ever done a large reno? Did you learn something that we might benefit from? We'd love your input...

Remember the tiny, long haired dolls that came in a perfume bottle? When I was a little girl, my favourite thing to do was make LEGO houses for my ‘Kiddles’. Now do you remember? I bet my contemporaries do! Lol I used to spend hours with my blocks creating the perfect homes for my Kiddle families and I’d make believe that they were my family - living the dream! ... I was thinking how lucky I am today. I feel like I’m right back there pretending with my toys Only now, it’s real! My childhood games didn’t only pave the path for my career in design and real estate, but my husband and I are building our dream home in cottage country too! (that’s it, up there, on my new Cover Photo) Its still under construction, so not lookin’ like the Taj Mahal yet but, I can picture it in all its finished glory and I can’t wait to make it our forever home and new business base! I’m looking forward to posting new photos as we go and to learning new aspects of the construction process up north (which is very different than in the city).
