Hello! Here is an activity that we can all get behind: Here are the details for the BIG RIVER TRAIL CLEAN-UP 2021! WHO: Members of Protecting Pedestrian Trai...ls and Athletics NorthEast Running Club - AND FRIENDS! More the merrier! WHEN: Sunday April 25, 1 to 4 PM. WHERE: Meet at 1PM at either A) Pius X (Eliz. Ave) parking lot (for Rennie's River Trail), or B) St. Paul's Elem. (rear of school), Newfoundland Drive (for Virginia River Trail) Our TRAIL CAPTAINS will hand out gloves and bags, take your name (draw prizes!), and record your trail section (or assign one if you wish). BRING: GLOVES, if you can (we will have some gloves and lots of garbage bags (and coffee!)) to hand out at the Meeting Places. WEAR: Appropriate footwear/work clothes for wet areas. Weather looks good so far! NOTES: 1) Only collect what can fit in garbage bags. Over-sized objects found - please note location, and take a PIC if possible. 2) Take PICS of your group or family for sharing to our Facebook pages and websites. Send your pics to [email protected] 3) Leave filled bags on the side of the trail for collection, or bring to the nearest road/trail intersection. 4) HAVE FUN and STAY SAFE! Don't forget to physically-distance from those outside your 'bubble!' 5) All collected bags will be trucked to 1 of 4 locations for pickup by CLEAN ST. JOHN'S.

Thanks to all the followers of this page for your support over my years as MHA first for district of Signal Hill-Quidi Vidi and then St. John's East-Quidi Vidi. It was a wonderful time for me - a real honour in representing people in this area of St. John's for almost 13 years. I am now in retirement as a politician and will be shutting down this page.

While no longer an MHA I shall be watching carefully the NL legislature and what I know will be tremendous work by the 3 new NDP MHAs. Thanks to everyone for the support I received during my 13 years as elected representative. It was an honour to speak on behalf of the people of my constituency and of the province when I was leader and a task that I loved. I shall continue as an NDP member to seek for a society of equality and justice where no one gets left behind.... I wish all the best to the new caucus and caucus staff under the leadership of Alison Coffin.

And I shall continue to support even after I am no longer in the House.

NDP wants details of government’s 2015 plan to cut public-sector employees New Democratic Party James Dinn, MHA says he’s not sure the provincial government’s ...attrition plan is working for those on the front lines. Dinn says he’s worried about workers in health care and education, who are burning out due to low staffing. Dinn says he wants to make sure public-service positions are being eliminated if there is less need for the service, not just to reduce spending. From our point of view, if you’re going to talk about attrition you’re looking at a numbers-based approach, which this seems to be, or you look at a needs-based approach to staffing, said Dinn. The concern that we have is, what analysis is there?
