#Important_Announcement: Dear friends, As you may have heard, Changling Rinpoche has been building a monastery in Kurseong, West Bengal, in India. It was requested by Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche that Changling Rinpoche build this monastery to ensure the continuation of the Zur lineage. The new monastery is called Mahayana Buddha Vihara. ... It is located on a hillside, high in the mountains of this area, and has been several years in planning and development. The monastery is being built in stages, with the first part of the project being roads and infrastructure to support the living quarters for the monks. Now the living quarters are nearing completion, and around 11 young monks (aged between 11-16 years) will be arriving on 5.January 2021. However, the monks need to be provisioned. Each will be arriving with basically nothing and will need all the essentials for daily life. This includes: 2 robes, 2 under vests, underwear, mattress, pillow, sheet and pillowcase, very warm blanket, bowl, spoon, mug, towel, and sundries. Rinpoche estimates that the cost of these items will be 100 USD. The area is elevated so it is important to have warm blankets. They will also need winter coats as the weather is particularly cold and damp. For an extra 50 USD there will be enough for them to have warm down jackets. Rinpoche is inviting us to follow the noble tradition of giving and generosity, where making offering of robes and essentials to the ordained sangha, sanghadna, or the offering of DNA, is a privilege and creates an unfailing auspicious link which goes back to Buddha Shakyamuni and the Vinaya Pitaka. Please note that this is not a request for sponsorship. We are seeking one-time donations to cover the costs for these young monks on the special occasion of first entering the Mahayana Buddha Vihara. We can accept payment through the donation button on the Lotus Speech Canada website, by cheque, or by Interac transfer. Cheques can be mailed to: Etta Rosso, Treasurer, Lotus Speech Canada 2255 West 8th. Apt 304 Vancouver, BC V6K 2A6 Interac transfers can be sent to [email protected] Password: Kurseong If you should have any questions, please contact Christine Bird at [email protected] Thank you for your consideration. Any amount, no matter how small, will help these young monks begin their education and ensure the continuation of this precious lineage. Kind regards, Christine Bird on behalf of the board of Lotusspeech Canada Lotus Speech Hkg Min Li Chong
