We just want to remind everyone of the continued pre-cautions we are taking. We will continue to make our services available for you. We still live-stream all services out of our Jackson and Barnard Chapel as well as we are able to do Pre-Arrangements and Arrangements over the phone, by email and via ZOOM. Feel free to reach out to us at any time.
We are incredibly proud and honoured to be able to present this to you. This past week, one of our Funeral Directors, Jeff Shrigley presented to the Rotary Club of Sudbury Sunrisers. His message and story is one that we believe everyone needs to hear. We are so very proud that Jeff has agreed to share this with all of us. Jeff has been an advocate for Bullying for years and this is his story.
STOLEN FROM THE LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME Good Afternoon All. On Saturday, January 2nd, 2021 a BRONZE plaque was vandalized and stolen from the front door of the Funeral Home at 252 Regent St in Sudbury. The person that stole it, took the time to unbolt it from the wall. If you have any information please contact Jeff Shrigley by email at [email protected] or by phone 705-677-8474. Leaving it back there would be ideal or send an anonymous text. A reward will be offered for information leading to its recovery.
Here are some pictures of our staff, getting festive and giving back this holiday season. We would like to wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday. May the memories of your loved ones shine brightly and bring comfort throughout the season. Happy Holidays from the Lougheed Family & Staff.
This year our annual staff Christmas luncheon looked a little different. In keeping with public health regulations, we had our lunch to go, instead of celebrating together. However, this did not stop our amazing staff from coming together to fill a crib for the Sudbury Infant Food Bank! This is the second year that our generous staff have chosen to donate to the Infant Food Bank rather than do our annual Kris Kringle. What a great new tradition! 2020 has truly been a year of our community coming together to help one another. Please visit: www.allweneedsudbury.ca/jacksonbernard if you would like to donate!
Last Thursday, the Lougheed Foundation donated $50,000 to the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign. Member's of the Lougheed Funeral Home including, Jeff, Cathy, Gerry, Renee, Katie, Sarah, Lisa and Karen all volunteered their time for this. The Lougheed Foundation continues to give back to the community and as a staff we are extremely proud of all the good you do for everyone. Thank You. Below is an article that Jeff wrote and we think he captures it perfectly with, "This holiday season I want you to reach into your pocket and help someone in need, I want you to reach into your heart and make someone smile and I want you to reach out into life and make a difference."
CURRENT COVID FUNERAL HOME PROCEDURES With continued guidance from the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO), currently with respect to attendance, we are able to allow for 1/3 capacity of the room size. For example at our downtown location, The Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, this would allow 50 people or fewer in our two large visitation rooms, 30 people or fewer in the smaller ones and 80 people or fewer in our chapel. Everyone entering into the funeral home must wear a m...ask at all times and maintain social distancing when not in their social bubbles. Live streaming options are still available for chapel services at Jacksons. We are also still doing funeral and prearrangements by phone and email. Our staff are dedicated to your safety, disinfecting the rooms and offices after each use and having extra masks and hand sanitizer throughout the funeral homes. Have questions? Call one of our helpful funeral directors anytime at 705-673-9591. Stay safe!

We would like to share with you an article written about Gerry Lougheed Jr. This was written by Jeff Shrigley who is one of our Funeral Directors. Jeff founded Fight with J which focuses on his experience with bullying, his story and how he is inspiring others. In this article Jeff talks about the friendship and mentorship he has with Gerry Lougheed Jr. We all have that special friend in our lives we are grateful for. Don't forget to tell them how much they mean and give th...em that socially distanced hug. We hope you enjoy his story. In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

Butterfly Wings Perinatal Bereavement Services do an amazing job supporting many families in our community who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss. Each year they participate in The International Wave of Light which takes place on Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, October 15. Candles are lit around the world in all time zones at 7:00pm and they remain lit for exactly 1 hour. Last year one of our funeral directors had the privilege of being invited to join and light a candle in memory all of the babies who have passed away in our community. This year they will be hosting a Virtual Wave of Light.
