Yesterday, I had the pleasure to meet with Greg Ford to accept this donation to the LMH Foundation, made on behalf of Greg and Margot Ford and Wilson-Ford Surveying & Engineering here in Mount Forest. Their gift will be applied towards the purchase of an Ultrasonic Tabletop Irrigator, used in the MDRD department (where equipment is sterilized) at Louise Marshall Hospital. It's that time of year again! On October 17th, tune in to CKNX AM920 for the 19th Annual CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon. This year, our goal at the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation is to raise $75,000 towards equipment needed for surgical services at LMH.

The Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation has now fulfilled its $5-million commitment to the expansion and redevelopment of the Mount Forest hospital. Project is on track to be completed by next spring. bit.ly/2S7DIOo

Last fall, LMH Foundation was the fortunate recipient of the proceeds from the Pike Lake Minto Lions Club's golf tournament. With this donation, we were able to support the purchase of a Vital Signs monitor for use in LMH's diabetes education program. Diabetes educator, Shane Grace, shows off the monitor below. The Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation will be joining in the fun for Mount Forest's Shop Local Celebration this Saturday. The Holstein Agro Expo and Rodeo took place this past weekend, held in support of the LMH Foundation. Thanks so much to the organizers of this event - for supporting local health care, for providing us with first class entertainment in an outdoor venue with plenty of room for social distancing , and for teaching us the meaning of the phrase "airmail a cowboy".

I think we can all agree that the staff at Louise Marshall Hospital is working hard to keep things running smoothly, both through the COVID-19 pandemic and through the construction that is also underway. A feel-good post for a beautiful Friday afternoon. Here are staff at Louise Marshall Hospital using some of the recent donations we've received from Copernicus Educational Products and DripFit, as well as a few of the iPads that were purchased for patient use with the support of 100 Women Who Care Rural Wellington. In times like these, when nothing feels 'normal', it is wonderful to see how our community comes together to take care of each other.

Just in time for National Nurse's Week, it was our pleasure to accept these gifts of lunch kits for our nurses, delivered by area Pampered Chef consultant, Bev Burgess. These kits were sponsored by Bev and other area residents, in support of our nurses at LMH. Thanks so much for your thoughtful, and very practical, gift!

200 years ago Florence Nightingale was born. Easily the most influential nurse in history, she was considered the pioneer of modern nursing. She championed ha...nd washing with soap and water as an important part of reducing rates of infection, and cared for all individuals regardless of their station or rank. At a time when communication with families was difficult, she insisted on writing home to patients' loved ones when able. In 1860, following an outpouring of donations honouring her work during the Crimean War, she established her nursing school at St. Thomas Hospital in London (still operating today as part of King's College London). Her strength and perseverance, as well as her reliance on statistics and science to support patient care initiatives, remain excellent examples for nurses all over the world.
