As the year comes to a close, we'd like to take a moment to thank all of our generous donors. We had a number of first-time fundraisers in 2021, including our 50/50 Rural Wellington Hospitals Lottery; Drive-Thru Dinner; Online Auction: A Gala Warm Up and Holiday Design Contest where we turned the winning designs into our Holiday Card Collection, available for the public to purchase through our new website. Whether you participated in one of these events, supported the Redevelopment, gave a donation for Radiothon or helped in another way, we thank you. Your generosity allows us to support Louise Marshall Hospital and provide excellent healthcare in our community. There is still time to donate to receive a 2021 charitable receipt. Visit our website at www.louisemarshallfoundation.ca - Ways to Give.

It was with great pleasure that we were able to deliver this gift to the staff at LMH earlier this month, on behalf of some thoughtful donors who wanted to recognize our local healthcare workers for their care and support. They've been working under some very stressful conditions over the past few months, to provide our community with exemplary care while navigating both the second wave of the pandemic and the ongoing construction at LMH. On behalf of our donors, thanks so much for your hard work!

The Holstein Agro Expo and Rodeo took place this past weekend, held in support of the LMH Foundation. Thanks so much to the organizers of this event - for supporting local health care, for providing us with first class entertainment in an outdoor venue with plenty of room for social distancing , and for teaching us the meaning of the phrase "airmail a cowboy".

I think we can all agree that the staff at Louise Marshall Hospital is working hard to keep things running smoothly, both through the COVID-19 pandemic and through the construction that is also underway. In keeping with our feel-good Friday theme, and with the support of the Mount Forest Seniors Club, we were so pleased to be able to bring a little cheer to all the staff at LMH. To the doctors, nurses and front desk staff working on the frontlines, and to all the staff worki...ng behind the scenes - housekeeping, dietary and maintenance, lab and diagnostic imaging, our physiotherapy team, social worker, dietitian and diabetes educators, management and administration, pharmacy, finance and health records, IT, purchasing and receiving, communications and HR - as you can see the list is a long one - THANK YOU for everything you do to provide us with exceptional local health care! A feel-good post for a beautiful Friday afternoon. Here are staff at Louise Marshall Hospital using some of the recent donations we've received from Copernicus Educational Products and DripFit, as well as a few of the iPads that were purchased for patient use with the support of 100 Women Who Care Rural Wellington. In times like these, when nothing feels 'normal', it is wonderful to see how our community comes together to take care of each other.

200 years ago Florence Nightingale was born. Easily the most influential nurse in history, she was considered the pioneer of modern nursing. She championed ha...nd washing with soap and water as an important part of reducing rates of infection, and cared for all individuals regardless of their station or rank. At a time when communication with families was difficult, she insisted on writing home to patients' loved ones when able. In 1860, following an outpouring of donations honouring her work during the Crimean War, she established her nursing school at St. Thomas Hospital in London (still operating today as part of King's College London). Her strength and perseverance, as well as her reliance on statistics and science to support patient care initiatives, remain excellent examples for nurses all over the world. Happy International Nurses Day! See more

If there was ever a time to celebrate our nurses, it would be now as they work under extraordinarily challenging conditions to care for us when we need it most. To our wonderful team of nurses at Louise Marshall Hospital, today and every day, thank you for all you do!
