Self Reflection (again). You don’t need permission to rest from anyone but you. You own your body. You can stop and you can listen and you can know when you need to lie down/sleep/eat/cry. In this world of go go go, where even in a pandemic we are told we can thrive, it becomes harder to hear those cues that tell us we need to chill the fuck out. Many of us cannot thrive right now and that’s ok. Newsflash- I’m not thriving. I’ve spent the last 12 months killing my brain think...ing of ways to bring in revenue, keep my team employed, keep the lights on, keep our clients happy. But I’m tired and this is NOT natural. And my body started telling me it also wasn’t sustainable- injured joints, cold sores, break outs, heart palpitations, headaches. And so, I’m where so many other entrepreneurs and event industry people are at right now. I’ve fought. Hard. And now I rest and ride this out. I’m on a journey and there are peaks and valleys and winding roads and straight flat roads that feel really good. Right now, I’m in a valley that has brought me back to myself and said, pit stop girl. Breathe and eat and sleep and assess the map and then get back in. I can only hope that I’m at the start of a slow, long incline. Maybe we are if this damn government gets this right and stops treating small businesses like the runt of the litter. Where are you at? This caption has nothing to do with this image, which is from a wedding I loved- Rosa and Alex’s! Captured by @jennifersee.studios with florals from @huntandgatherfloral at @berkeleyevents church! There's no denying that this pandemic has been an absolute upheaval for all of us in the industry - Couples and Event Pros alike. But amidst all the ups and downs, numerous closures and postponements, the best we can really do is continue to push through, however that might look for each of us. All while holding on to the incredibly intimate moments we were lucky to be a part of over the years planning and designing weddings. Take this gorgeous tropical meets industri...al style celebration for Stephanie & Shaki for instance. Inspired by the couples proposal in Bermuda, we used lush florals, textures and tons of delicate details to to tie in the very things that spoke to their love story. Now live on their blog, @eventsource.ca covers all the details from this day and it comes at no better time. Head to my link in bio for the full article! and to the dream team that helped us pull this one off - thank you! we love YOU! The Event Industry has been closed for 10 out of the past 13 months. Our businesses are fighting to survive. The wedding industry is a multi-billion dollar industry in Canada, employing thousands, feeding families, paying mortgages. When can we get back to work? We too deserve the chance to return with safe restrictions and protocols in place. We need the Provincial Government to start providing answers. Please read more about our fight here: http://chng.it/KcXNhB9NmL - putti...ng a swipe up to this petition in my stories. We are calling on Minister @lisamacleodpc, Minister @prabsarkaria , Premier Ford @fordnationdougford and our local MPPs like @bhutilakarpoche and @faisalhassanndp to start listening and providing solutions for our industry. Restaurant patios are open- why can’t we replicate these protocols? Please share our story and keep our fight alive! #savetheeventindustry Image by @tjtindale from @popupchapel.ca

This chapel was designed to be fully sustainable- locally grown flowers, all thrifted or rented vintage, all no waste food, no plastic. It was a feat but with TLC, we made it happen. This worked because everyone was working together and life was predictable. The way we are living now in this pandemic is not sustainable. Teasing lock downs. Opening things back up and then closing them again. Asking small business owners to kill themselves to stay alive and keep people... employed. Giving us guidelines that are impossible to follow because they change on the dime. It’s not a new pandemic anymore. It’s old news and we’ve hit a wall. I’ve hit a wall. I’m tired. Are you? If you’re tired, tell me in the comments how you are moving through this completely frustrating existence right now. I’ve made a commitment to return to basics, sleep/eat/exercise and to trust in the unknown (hard for me). Today we launch The Love by Lynzie Podcast. Over the past couple years, I’ve been dreaming of a way that I could continue to learn from professionals I love, yet also share my perspective on the events and weddings industry (and let’s be honest, my perspective on pretty much everything else) with you. A podcast seemed like the perfect fit. I started in this industry sort of by happy accident (Listen to the bonus coming soon episode for the full story) and its changed me... profoundly. But what I’ve learned over the past few years is that the industry itself needs profound change. So, our podcast will explore the event and wedding industry as it currently is, expose the ways it’s not working, and brainstorm the ways that we as a whole- vendors and clients- can shift towards planning authentically. I value Honesty over everything and I promise to uphold this value in my podcast. I hope you’ll listen. We’re now streaming live on Apple, Spotify and Google podcasts. Click the link in my bio for a quick link to find the podcast on the player you use, subscribe and listen. We’re launching with 3 hopeful and interesting episodes. Also, this has been a learning experience for me so the audio is far from perfect. But, one of my fave philosophies is Done is better than perfect. And honestly, if I waited until it was perfect, I may have ever launched. Another one of my fave philosophies is Start before you’re ready. So here’s to starting. Thanks for your support!
