Love in the Empire

Trump Impeachment is a good time to reflect on history of America. In my novel I have outlined my experience of the British Empire as it affected my life in the post war period. World is watching intently on the rise and fall of American influence on the world civilization.

When you are enthusiastic, the mountain also looks like a clay pile.- "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj". Dear friends & relatives, When you reach cross roads in life the problems seem like mountains. In my journey I encountered many in love and profession. With each challenge I remembered the quote of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. My journey of life began in an Indian family in East Africa to London where I learnt law. My beginning was humble, but my ambition was not. It was in my... childhood I had passion to be a Judge and I accomplished my mission. The passion to learn law took me to London. My passion to help country of my brith brought me to Berlin where I studied German and Economics. The political challenges of my homeland brought me to Canada. During the struggle of each day I met my wife from a different culture. The decisions to live in a different culture and excel in it required tenacity and I remembered the quotes of Shivaji to hold my head high and see the mountain as a clay pile. Now we face COVID-19 but all of us must not let our spirit down. I want to inspire others with my vision in the novel Love in the Empire for all my life experiences, struggles, and love and spirit of accomplishments. See more

Love in the Empire is a fictional version of my life story. I was born in Dar es Salaam in Africa. I studied in England and Germany. I got married in Berlin, then came to Canada where I settled where I became a lawyer and a Deputy Judge and then wrote this novel. I am a proud father of two sons. Jay Chauhan

The movie is based on the novel Love in the Empire which is a story of love between an Indian young man born as a British Subject but of Indian origin in Dar es Salaam and his journey through love in Europe and then Germany and then Canada where he settles and makes a career as a lawyer.
