February is Heart Health month. The month also emphasizes the importance of mental health services, as heart health and mental health are more intertwined than many people know. For instance, a person who has had a heart attack and as a result has limitations on physical activity may become more depressed about the situation. Or, a person who suffers from depression may stop exercising and develop a generally unhealthy lifestyle which causes their physical fitness, including... their heart health, to deteriorate. Or a person with anxiety (so common these days!) may have elevated blood pressure, which worsens a preexisting heart condition. The relationship between heart health and mental health is so complex, but we feel it is important to discuss. * Do you have heart issues? Do you high blood pressure? Congenital heart failure? Do you know your family history of heart health? * Signs of heart disease may vary, but some symptoms may include: Pain, tightness, pressure or discomfort in the chest shortness of breath pain, weakness numbness or cold feeling racing or slow heartbeat, fluttering lightheadedness, dizziness or fainting swelling in the hands or feet fatigue Symptoms of depression may include: persistent feelings of sadness/irritability feeling of hopelessness or guilt lack of energy/ fatigue difficulty concentrating sleeping too much/too little thoughts of death or suicide unintentional weight loss /gain The GOOD NEWS is that both heart disease and mental health conditions are treatable! It is important to talk to your medical doctor to assess your physical and mental health. The sooner you get help, the better your outcome is likely to be. As always, take time to LOVE YOUR MIND today #lovemymindyxe #hearthealthmonth #healthyhearthealthymind #heartandstrokefoundation #holisticwellbeing #weconnectyxe

Our community is resilient and will always come together in times of a crisis. This past year has taught us a lot about handling adversity and learning to adapt... therefore becoming stronger! Unfortunately loved ones were lost as the struggle was overwhelming and resources were limited. Staying connected in a world told to stay apart is so important right now. Our community is in need and we need our community... #StayConnected #StayHealthy #OurCommunity

Had a great conversation today with one of our amazing partners of Love My Mind. We didn't talk about the obvious, but more so talked about the people of Saskatchewan There is something about us and how we always come together to connect, support and battle adversity... Maybe it's the living sky or the way we genuinely support our small business owners Let's continue to leave entitlement at the door as it's time to connect and support as a community once again. It's time to learn to love ourselves and truly dig deep for the recipe for happiness, especially now! It's time... #SupportMentalHealth #ForwardTogether #LiveYourBestLife #OurCommunity #LocalHeroes #GenuineHappiness #LoveMyMind

Joy? Or Happiness? Joy and happiness are wonderful feelings to experience, but are very different. Joy is more consistent and is cultivated internally. It comes when you make peace with who you are, why you are and how you are, whereas happiness tends to be externally triggered and is based on other people, things, places, thoughts and events... . .... . #Gratitude #Purpose #Together #Tomorrow #Support #Joy #Happiness #SupportMentalHealth #WeAreAllInThisTogether #AMillionLittleThings #ForwardTogether See more

It's been 7 months... and with the return of darkness, winter is looming large in our hearts and minds. Mental health issues related to our lockdown and the pandemic are especially hard for people with depression and other mental health challenges. The relapse and overdose rate has increased by 30% since March 2020. Crisis Services Canada has a 24-hour helpline: 1-833 456-4566. CMHA says this is a good number to call in a mental health crisis or if contemplating suicide. Now..., I’m asking my small corner of FB to follow suit: Could any two of my Facebook friends just copy and repost to share the helpline far and wide? Just two. Any two. Say done.
