To celebrate YMCA Peace Week, the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is recognizing individuals who have committed to making our community a better place for all. Shelly Sk...inner is an advocate against Anti-Black and 2SLGBTQ+ discrimination. In response to the Black Lives Matter movement, Shelly founded UPlift BLACK a not-for-profit organization dedicated to uplifting the overall wellness of Black People living in Simcoe/Muskoka. This summer, the UPlift BLACK Youth Project provided personalized care packages to over 240 Black youth isolating at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We encourage you to celebrate a Peace Champion in your community by using the #YMCAPeaceChampion hashtag.
