Meet Terri & Elisha (and their families!) - two long time pals who own the LOVEPIZZA Spruce Grove location! Here’s a little Q&A with these wonderful ladies. Make sure you say hello next time you’re in the shop! What do you enjoy about the restaurant industry? T: Meeting new people in the community! E: People! Getting to know our people. Both customers & our team members.... How did this partnership come to be? T: After 30 some years of friendship we thought why not own a business together, then Elisha & Ivan came to us with an idea E: We met in Junior High School. We have been family ever since! We wanted to do something together that brought our families & the community we live in together. I could not imagine doing this with anyone else. What do you love about Spruce Grove? T: The people....we have a fantastic community! E: The friendly people, peaceful neighborhoods & the giving community! What is your favourite pizza (menu)? T: Holy Shiitake E: Ode To Ukraine What is your favourite pizza (custom combo)? T: Traditional crust, Basil Spinach Pesto and Tangy Tomato sauce mixed, House Blend Cheese, Fresh Tomato, a sprinkle of Parmesan & a drizzle of Balsamic Reduction E: I’m boring! Cheese & lots of It What do you like to do when you’re not at the restaurant? T: Spend time with family and friends, when we don’t have a pandemic going on. Watch my kids play hockey , we spend a lot of time in hockey rinks and wouldn’t have it any other way. E: You will find me at soccer. Managing & watching my sons and our teams play! In one word, how would your friends and family describe you? T: Talkative, Kind E: I have no idea! You will have to ask Terri. If you want to know about her- Compassionate (and she talks a lot, and loud and fast ) What is your favourite part of the LOVEPIZZA brand? T: The community initiatives! Love how much Lovepizza is out in the community supporting and helping out others! E: The food. The uniqueness of the menu. Versatility to serve gluten free, keto, vegetarian etc What is your favourite spot on the pizza line to work when you are in the restaurant and why? T: Working the till as I get to chat with all the people that come in! E: I am everywhere. I dropped off our Stocking Stuffers for Seniors packages at our neighbourhood London Drugs this morning. We aren’t affiliated with it, it’s just a fundraiser I’ve loved for the last 5 years. Our son looks forward to seeing the senior’s wish list every year and drawing in the card (this year we taste tested the December feature before we finished up the packages). I love #stockingstuffersforseniors for so many reasons Our grandparents are not physically with us anymor...e and we miss them, a lot. While they were in their final years living in care homes, they still felt so much love from their family and they knew that someone was thinking of them, always. Sadly, that is not the case for many. This annual donation and tradition has become a bit of a tribute to them. This year especially, seniors are feeling extremely isolated due to COVID and that makes my heart hurt. Wish list items are simple chocolates, magazines, slippers, tea they have wishes for COMFORT. I get emotional about this. If you saw our stories last week when I picked up my tags I got pretty choked up talking about the little tree in the front of the store and spotting a tag with the name Joyce on it (that was my maternal Grandma and my best buddy). My rule over the last few years, share the things that make me emotional. They make me emotional for a reason because they are important. Explain to the young people in your life why you’re buying chocolates for a stranger. These are conversations I look forward to every year with our son. Through our business we have had the opportunity to surprise and delight people through our fundraisers, our support pizzas and engaging with our customers. It is the greatest gift to see someone light up because they feel loved, special and thought of. This is what this campaign is about and this is why I always want to share it. Over the years I have received countless messages and posts from YOU, our customers, about getting involved in this campaign and it makes me so happy to see that. So if you are able this year, let’s make our city’s most vulnerable have the best and safest holiday season they can have, with the help of Operation Friendship Seniors Society (OFSS) ... and their hard work with this campaign. A quick update from us (yes, we’re all bogged down with updates and announcements). As of today all 4 LOVEPIZZA locations will not be offering any dine in. There is someone we wanted you to meet. Brianne! Brianne has been with us since before we opened the doors to the St Albert restaurant in the spring of 2017. She was the manager of the St Albert location for a few years and is now the manager of our commissary kitchen. She’s a VERY important part of our business for many reasons. Here are some fun facts about the gal behind all of that food (dough, sauces, meats etc) that gets delivered to our four locations to create thos...e delicious pizzas you know and love. Fav signature pizza? Toss up between the Old MacDonald and the Finger Lick'n Smokey Chick'n. Fav feature pizza? The B-52! (Fingers crossed it comes out of the vault again soon) Go-to custom pizza? Tangy Sauce, Mozzarella Cheese, Mild Pepperoni, Bacon, finished with Garlic Oil, Salt, Pepper, Basil and Grana Padano. Favourite item to make in the commissary kitchen? Chipotle BBQ sauce. Least favourite? Definitely Garlic Spread. It burns the eyes and nose worse than onions man. My favourite piece of equipment in the commissary kitchen? Definitely the dough rounder, and the divider, I just think they're neat. After dividing, weighing and balling dough by hand for so long, it felt like making the jump to hyper space. What do you love about LOVEPIZZA? I really love being a part of a company that's so involved in the communities it's in. With the LOVEPIZZA Gives initiative, we've supported a lot of amazing organizations, some I had never even heard of before starting with LOVEPIZZA. I've also really really enjoyed being a part of the catering team, working different community events and weddings (pre 2020). Most memorable thing so far at LOVEPIZZA? Besides a car driving into the St. Albert shop? Seriously though, I've gained so much experience in my almost 4 years. With LOVEPIZZA I really feel like I have a new family. The support and encouragement I have received from everyone I have worked with, and from Gavin and Braede as well, will always hold a really special place in my heart, especially at the beginning of this year when I was going through a really difficult situation. First off, all 4 LOVEPIZZA locations will be open regular hours today, for Remembrance Day. Since we opened the first LOVEPIZZA almost 5 years ago, Remembrance Day has always a day that we saw groups of people come into our restaurant after attending ceremonies. Often groups with three generations. Sitting and enjoying each others company and reflecting on the ceremonies and tributes they had just witnessed. We have had veterans (young and old) in uniform come in and sit ne...xt to their children and grandchildren no doubt trying to answer questions and share experiences with younger generations. Remembrance Day this year is going to look very different, obviously however you are safely recognizing this very important day we hope you take the time to reflect on it yourself and reach out to our next generation. Pass on stories to them from those that exist as a photo or memory or who may live just down the street. Those little hands holding a photo of one of his great Grandpas who served belong to a little boy with a lot of questions and I’ve always tried to answer those questions as best I can and many of those conversations have happened over pizza.
