Sharing the events of the last day of 2020 at the home. Shannon had a New Years social with small groups and it looks like fun was had by all, nice to see those smiles!!! We would also like to take a minute to thank all the residents and families for patience and understanding during this different and very difficult time and a great BIG thank you to all the staff in all the departments for your relentless efforts and work to care for our residents and keep our home safe and healthy. Happy New year everyone. Welcome 2021!!

December 31/2020 Dear Friends and families of the Loyalist. We hope this letter finds you well. As we close 2020 and move into 2021 we wish you all a safe and happy holiday during these trying and unprecedented times. ... A few changes here at the home in light of the regional/provincial lockdown status we are in to prevent the spread of infection. We have closed all the common areas in the home to decrease congregation in numbers that do not align with social distancing measures and increase risk to all. This does not include the common dining area which is open for meals only. Dining continues as it is currently with residents cohorted with the residents in their same living area of the home. The Hair salon is closed under the framework until further notice. Family/Friend In person visits: We are sad to say we have discontinued visits in the visiting booth at this time related to the lockdown changes and to decrease risk. We continue to offer virtual (zoom, skype or video chat)visits for social opportunities for residents and family. Please call the home to schedule an appointment for a virtual visiting opportunity. We appreciate compliance with visiting restrictions to ensure safety for all in the home. Please do not make arrangements to meet your loved ones outside or at the door. This increases risk to everyone. If you have things to drop off please do so in the front and we will clean and provide it to residents. Resident leaves: Leaves/absences are not permitted with only essential appointments being an exception at this time that must be documented with the front office in advance. We know these are very difficult times for our residents and are working hard on individual activities and small safe programs to help with stimulation and safe socialization within the home. As always we are overwhelmed by the support and gifts of kindness we received over the christmas holiday. We promise to continue with our diligence in every effort to keep your loved one safe and comfortable. Warm wishes for a happy new year and all the best for a better year ahead. A little bit of festive fun and games on the weekend and a movie and treats to finish it off. Looks like fun was had by all.

We had our Christmas dinner last evening with the residents. I think everyone enjoyed themselves although it was different from other years we all shared a few laughs The couples enjoyed a special meal and everyone felt the sparkle in the air. Thank you to the awesome team who worked in planning and helping to make this special for everyone. (Not everyone wanted pics)

Well what a week we have had at the Loyalist. It’s been so Busy there will be 2 posts and the fun isn’t over yet. From special crafts to little visitors and big visitors and fun Christmas crafts. Santa stopped by and Holly finally introduced her new baby to her work family in a safe way!!
