Lakehead Virtual Elementary School

Students in Mrs.Cross' and Mrs. Dennis' SK class used the Skype a Scientist program to have a presentation from wildlife biologist Joanie Kennah. During a presentation from Kingfisher, they were curious about why snowshoe hares have different sized feet - they know they have big feet that act like snowshoes, but the students also really wanted to know why they also have small feet on their front legs. They reached out to a scientist who was able to answer their question, and also answered our many other questions about otters, skunks, wolves, and other forest animals!

A few weeks ago, the students in Ms. Nelson's Grade 8 class had a photography presentation from Rena Viehbeck from the Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority. After learning the basics of photography, they practiced some of the skills they had learned by taking pictures. Here are some of their fabulous creations!
