Hi everyone! I just want you all to know that it’s time to take a break pruning, at least until the trees and shrubs fully leaf out. If your trees or shrub buds look like these...don’t prune them. You can start pruning after they are in full leaf.

For the past week and now, it is NOT time to prune, in Lacombe. If your trees and shrubs are leafing out or budding, don’t prune them. Wait until they fully leaf out. At this time the energy in the roots are moving into the tree, to open the buds. If your tree or shrub buds look like this, Don’t prune!

Now is the time to prune your evergreens. If you what them to stay the size they are now, just pinch off that new growth.

Everything should be in full leaf now. If you have not started pruning....

STOP PRUNING! By now all you trees and shrubs should be budding/leafing out, with a few exceptions. You can remove dead, diseased, damaged/broken, suckers and waterspouts. Once your trees and shrubs have fully leafed out, then you can prune again.
