Beautiful day for a boat ride!
This job started as an emergency job because the bank was slumping onto the road below. We did the first section of the wall last February and it was challenging to say the least. We fought a hard fight to build the wall and not have it slump into the work area. We just stepped this wall up another 2 rows which make things more useable up top and also makes for a nice area to have hedges etc.
What an awesome day to do some gravel and soil deliveries! I think it’s safe to say spring is really here
Our truck is ready and available for all your dump trucking needs! Gravel sales and deliveries in Nanaimo and the surrounding areas!
Here is a terrible lesson on why it is crucial that the backfill around the perimeter of your home is not above the foundation walls and is also properly graded. This is going to require substantial repairs.
Gotta love technology! The camera saves the day and confirms the sections under the concrete walkway and stairs are in good condition!
We got lucky and the old concrete tile under the concrete stairs is in fantastic condition and we don’t have to remove them to replace this section of the perimeter drainage. This is a good example of why we prepare for the worst case scenario in terms of the cost estimates and the amount of work that may need to be done. Only once we have excavated and are able to fully inspect the old system with a camera can we make a judgment call as to if it needs to be replaced. This approach is required when other sections of the old system have collapsed and a full camera inspection is not possible until the excavation process is underway.
New perimeter drains and lots of concrete work!
Things are progressing nicely! We definitely love using these concrete blocks vs some of the other retaining wall options. The inherent stability provided by each block weighing ~4500lbs is significant and offers a huge margin of safety when compared to other methods of construction.
Getting things prepped for a new concrete block wall. It’s a bit tight for an 8t excavator so the little guy had to do all the dirt moving to open it up.
Gotta love the hydraulic dovetail!
With the rainy season just around the corner now is the time to get your perimeter drainage issues solved! We service both residential and commercial properties. Give us a shout today for a free estimate and ask us about the free camera inspection promo we have right now.
A wonderful tribute to our friend Brad Adamson. Gonna miss chatting with you on the different job sites we worked on over the years. You were far too young to be taken so soon.
We moved a 27’ portable building this morning. Can’t believe how handy the hydraulic dovetail is on the trailer. The dovetail lifts up above the plane of the deck which allowed us to both lift the rear of the building off of the blocks and lower it. We managed to lower the dovetail and teeter the building off of the front blocks which made for an incredibly slick way to load and off load the building from the trailer!
The F-450 doesn’t skip and beat and earns its keep! Neither do these trailers! If you’re wondering about the Hayabusa on the trailer... yes it’s turbocharged and has more hp than my truck!
Can’t argue with the scenery!
We have this trailer coming back empty from Calgary and then again from Edmonton, heading back to the Vancouver and the island. We have some room heading both directions as well. Give us a shout if you need a back haul?
We have this trailer coming back from Calgary to Vancouver and then from Edmonton to Vancouver with room on it. We possibly have room going as well. Give a shout if you need a back haul?
A couple of cool old Chevy’s on the deck!
We have an empty equipment trailer heading over to the mainland from the island early next week. Going as far as Calgary. Give us a shout if you have something needing hauled that way. We are fully insured and are able to offer an excellent back haul rate for this trip.
Thought these might have been Asian hornets at first glance but there are Horntail Wasps. Pretty neat and they don’t sting or bite
Hauling something a little bit lighter than excavators around today! I wish I had this trailer years ago. It’s so fast to load/unload! #recon_trailer for the win!
We definitely love using concrete lock blocks for retaining walls!
