Amazing weekend at MCSA Regional Championships!
Long overdue but a congratulations is in order for North for bringing home the bacon at the MCSA Regional Championships last weekend! He won the SL which was his fourth straight USCSA slalom victory this season (UNDEFEATED) He came second in the GS in a TIGHT drag race which saw multiple three-way-ties on the results sheet.... These two results gave him the title of MCSA Individual Overall Champ AND a spot at the USCSA National Championships in Lake Placid. This is the first time, since the teams reinstatement, that LU has sent an athlete to the super bowl of our collegiate circuit! Congratulations North!
FIS IS COMING BACK TO THUNDER BAY! See race notice below The reputation of Loch Lomond's "Giant" as a no mercy slalom hill has brought this Can-Am classic back to the Midwest USSA circuit. The two slaloms are to be held as a "warm up" for the Lutsen Spring series during March break. You can count on our ThunderWolves to make a strong showing on home soil. Spectators are more than welcome to come watch the spectacle. Racers, prepare to get sendy... Are you scared of the Giant?
Beauty weekend at the Lake Superior MCSA Divisional Champs! Warm temps, great snow and fast skiing!

Great weekend at Mt. Lacrosse!
Our ThunderWolves teamed up with the Lake Superior Division Alpine to turn some heads at the Atmore memorial and Lutsen Midwest GS series' this weekend North brought home a gold and silver, the shinier of which representing his first career FIS win! Kyle's first weekend with the team didn't yield the results we know he's capable of, however, one run times and sections show his potential to become a threat in the Midwest! Keep an eye on this duo as we head into the regular season on the USCSA circuit
Senior Circuit is taking off on the 7th! Open race for any one 18 years or older and it's FREE!!! See you there!
Eastern North American's having a rough go for snow... Meanwhile ... Up in Thunder Bay, things are good!!! #MidwestTheBest #Whyweskitbay
ThunderWolves! Unite! Come, meet the team, eat pizza, chat skiing and learn what it takes to be aThunderWolf. WE WANT YOU!
Lots of support from the Alpine Ontario staff in getting the Ski Trucks coordinated and loaded. Looks like about 135 of the 160 athletes in the race will be sending their gear by truck. This will save the ski racing community a ton of baggage fees with the airlines. And it will ensure everybody's gear makes it to Thunder Bay in time for training and racing!
The ThunderWolves USCSA season this year was short but sweet. While the Lake Superior Divisional Championships is the only USCSA race for the team this season the team of two turned some heads. Tristin, as a new face to the circuit, made a respectable first appearance placing 17th and 31st in the GS and Slalom respectably. Alumni team member, and now coach, Pat Donio was impressed with the rookie. The team is excited with Tristin as its obvious that there is a lot more in th...e tank. Keep an eye on Tristin next year! North, as the team veteran, had mixed feelings on his 12th place result in the GS. But he regrouped and hammer down on day two to take second place for a silver metal. This effectively split up a Saint Olaf podium sweep which would have taken place if the Canucks had not crashed the party. Overall a great showing by the team who proved that there is a lot to look forward to next year as they make a bid for USCSA National Championships in 2016. It's official, 2014/15 season has begun! North got out and took advantage of LU's close proximity to Loch Lomond Ski Area, Thunder Bay Ontario, Canada which is currently the only ski hill in Ontario operating.

Katie goes down FAST
Update from the GS yesterday. Katie 14th, North and Tim Z tie for 23rd. The real highlights from GS where the one run efforts. Katie nailed first run with an 8th coming into second run. While Tim and North came back from mistakes in first run to attack from the back and place 7th and 2nd respectably in the second run. We will work to repeat these positive results in our training and build on that confidence in the 2 weeks approaching Divisional's at Spirit mountain. Prepare ...to see some big results in the qualifying races where it counts! Thanks to TBSSA for their quality clean up after their race. This security cam footage the next morning resulted in a poor LU/CC athlete having to deal with it. No-one has seen that athlete since......
Giants Ridge Slalom is tomorrow and the teams roster is the biggest it's been in over 10 years. The line up: 3 - Tim 7 - North 14 - Rudy... 21 - Pat Katie will be the first woman to represent Confederate Collage in tomorrow's race starting 13 To catch live time results click the link in the comment section and find the race. Ladies and gentlemen buckle up! Time to turn some heads!
Tim Zwacki was the lone Canadian at the USCSA race in LaCrosse Wisconsin this weekend. With highly respectable 7th place finish in the slalom and 9th in the GS, we'd say he brought home the bacon! Keep an eye on this wicked fast Con. Collage skier and the rest of the Thunder-Animal squad as we head to Giants ridge this coming weekend! Results from LaCrosse posted in comments below.
Pictures from the Wild Mountain trip at last! There's only 2 pictures from the hill because the camera got cold poisoning almost as soon as I took it out of the bag. Some lovely shots on the road back though!
A little go pro fun at training today http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-5N0EbLV00
Always a good time at the "Senior Circus" TBSSA - Ski Haus Thunder Bay Senior Ski Association put on a great race last night. Pat and North were out representing and showing the old boys how it's done. Senior Circuit individual results - http://www.lsdalpine.com//TBSSAdocs/2014-01-09-IndividualR
First USCSA race of the season in the books! Wild mountain and the MCSA crew put on a great day of racing on a very chilly day in the Midwest division. Kudos to the entire race crew and our coach Rolf for standing in that cold! North Johnston took a commanding lead in the slalom to win the opening race and followed with a 2nd in the GS! Pat Donio at his first USCSA showing claimed 34th in Slalom and 30th in the GS. Showed some serious potential and one to watch in the future.... Rudy Brits rounded out the team this weekend with a respectable 52nd placing in the GS despite being too cold to use a speed suit. This was Confederate Collage's debut showing in USCSA.
